As ususl I turned on the redio and listened to cgbriel Theising, who I listen to every evening over BITZ on the Hhegyy Fourn program. He had already made e name for himself in the entertainment world. Sitting there listen- ing to him, my mind came to rest on my high school days at D. H. S. Gab wws one of my classmates who was always ready to entertain or have fun in the days et old Dubois High. Then I thought of all my other classmates who are now scattered far and neer over Our country. Cne of my nearest friends of L. H. S. days is Richard uggdf Piener, ster basketball ,layer, in the year 49-Sb. He accompanies me when flying about the country on e week-end jaunt to some secluded fishing slot, and is my companion when on e vacation. or on some soul-satisfying cruise. On one of our yearly excursions, we ren into Mary Lee Nordhofj at a little spot in Florida. She was just rounding out her vacation after having com leted n modeling con- trect for the Conover Agency in New York. Zot having seen us for a long period of tine, she asked a greet many luestions BOONE our home town end her home-town friends. The conversation then turned toward Gledys hee letheis end Yeuline Gelhgusen, two former classmates. On her return triy, I reminded her to check up on these two industrious girls who ere working for a law firm in Atlanta, Georgie. Gledvs and Iauline exnleined that their shorthand course really reid off in more ways than one. Both girls merried embit- ious lawyers. Cruising low in Chio, Red identified the yrosgerous Uhuebner 1 Son's Construction Com1anyW, of which Rudy Huebner is meneger. Ne remembered his high school sweetheart as the blushing bride. Red 06583 hunning the song NCincinneti, Ohion, and I knew Red wanted to spend the night here. As we landed on Lunken Airport. we recognized Qgrbara Jean yigg, R.N. boarding e large Northeastern Liner. Je climbed out of the cock pit and sew e tell, dignified. blonde storming after the plane. Realizing it was for a worthy cnuse and knowixg Barbers Jean as we did. Ricnerd and I offered the young gentlemen our services He arrived pt the Huntinguurg eirgort two minutes after the big Northenstern Liner landed. Se released the excited D1OHdS end left him in Jursuit of Bprbsre while we took off for Dubois. he heard later that the blonde accom lished his mission after Barbers assisted 8 doctor with an oyeretion. Having arrived in Dubois we heard e noise in the r'ane, and decided to have s check ut at Richard Stgmn's Garage. Richerd ie an efficient repair men. Richard was servicing jglpp QQyer's truck. Orlgn is hauling wood all over Southern Indiana. While et Stem s Garage, we saw Qoe Ziegler, formerly known as HCzerkU. yassing out candidate crrds. Joe is now running for judge of the circuit court of Dubois pnd Nertin County. These three DOyS were the best of high school inls. Joe mentioned that he sew our most huror- cus and good netured friend, Claude Seger. Claude now has e very nice and rrecticel xsrm over in the vicinity of Loogootee where he round the girl of his creams end rrozxtly settled down. Ihile Richird was working on the plane, we visited our old Alma Nater. Fere we found there had been Quite n turnover in the teaching gersonnel. The Big Three: kr. Xreitzer, hr. Seger, and Yr. Zehr hgve been pdecuately reyleced by George Cgel, Eugene Bauer, end 50533 Sendglwggk. George found it would ce more rrofitsole to sufervise chil- dren than turkeys and is now irirciyel of Dubois High School. Bauer has made quite e record for himself es coach. His teen is ranked first in the strte. Bonne lihed the idea of being e b-cnelor girl and is galing te ching her grofession. Princiyel Cfel infirned Us that derngrd Gilson is en eccomplished rleyer of the violin end is now gleying in the Philharmonic Symyhony in Carnegie Hell. He also tutors the little darlings of high society. Jock Go dman ilrys the viola in the some Orchestre. It seems he is well occu ieo with his fe ily end has no time for teaching. At this point, the exgert mechanic. Richard Stenm, fnnounced thft the fl-ne would need new de-icsrs. he give us the BCGTESS of e reliable firm in Detroit which carried ylane parts. Richard suggested that we tale cwre of this matter immediately. Q51 I l 2 After hearing Irincipal OLel'a lecture on yronitness, we took for Detroit without any hesitation. My co-jilot, Red, reminded me that it wee time po refuel. Fe didn't use much persuasion to convince satisfying. 'mlking along the ne that A few hours in the Poo-ier crvitfl could oe street, we ran into none other thfn Dorotrv lee Teder. She now has an ultra modern oe:uty sho, in down town Indirnryolis. She has also corzined marriage with her career. While talking to Dorothy, I psled her eoout her high school chum, Helen bgggggn. Finally, we arrived in Let roit, located the relisole fir: and discovered that ocr ouddy, qpltgg Ngggel, was owner of this lerie Serve-Us All Jprage. He vfs also the Iackerd dealer end iather of e hrljy family. Although the class or 19am was thought to e9 the Ereenest class in :he history of Dubois High School, I, Glggg Ziegler, found it to be the :ost grosjerous and successful class ever to graduate from Duo ois High School.
