I, Margaret Ann Thacker, will my true devotion to the .Teeps and my nurnber 4 pencils to Mary Florence Ward. I, Cyril Theising, will my popularity and good disposition to Charles Schnell. We, the Senior Class, will our ability to make money to the Junior Class: our good behavior and high scholastic standing to the Sophomore Class: and Lawrence, whom we have adopted, to the Freshrnan Class. CLASS PROPHEC Y This is the year 1968. After having completed supervision of the construction of the world's tallest building, I, Robert Seitz, now a civil engineer, have decided to become a historian and find information or the whereabouts concerning the members of the graduating class of Dubois High School of 1948. I have lost contact with most of my friends, but with a few I have remained associated. Among them is Edgar .Toe Munch. Joe also continued exercising his mathematical ability and after many years of study has received his Dr. Degree in Mathematics. Also, he has gained world wide prominence for his theory on exclativ- ity which even surpasses Einstein's theory on relativity. In a recent letter from Joe, I learned that he corresponds regularly with his good friend and ally of school days, Robert Lee Schott, and thus I was not at all surprised to hear that he was a clown for Tingling Brothers, America's largest circus. He further said that Bob was the highest paid clown in the business. I, personally, always knew he was capable of it and I am glad to hear of his success. Every morning when I pick up my newspaper, I am reminded of another classmate. You guessed it, Laura Nolan! Not only does she own a great newspaper in New York, but she also writes a syndicated cloumn daily. She has published books on any subject from politics to fashions. While glancing through an agricultural magazine, I was happily surprised by seeing the names of two old grads. of '48, Aaron Campbell was named the Champion Pumpkin from Indiana for this year. In the article, Aaron quoted, Those old hills east of Dubois are just tops for raising pumpkins. However, we all knew back in '48 that Aaron's quiet, unassuming ways and his pleasant smile would get him somewhere in this world. In the same magazine, I saw a fine write-up about a modern stock farm in Southern Indiana that was owned by Eugene Goodman. It seems that he had started from scratch with a few purebred cattle but that by now he was raising everything from purebred guinea pigs to purebred horses and was even rivaling Kentucky's purebreds with his fine horses. A few evenings ago, a friend asked me to attend a piano concert with him, and he told me that the featured pianist was Mary Ann Hoffman. Immediately, I realized that this was the same Mary Ann that was a part of our old class. I was happy to attend the concert, and afterwards went backstage to renew our friendship. It appears that she utilized her musical talents and was now fulfilling her career as a pianist. From Mary Ann I learned that Norma Jean Stamm was a famous artist and was giving an art demonstration during the next week. I attended the demonstration, and while having lunch with Norma Jean, who had been the artist on the Jeep Echo Staff, I learned much about the remaining members of our class. cLAss PROPHECY qcontinuedy She told me about Jeannine Huebner, the blond member of our class, who after graduation, because of her Chemistry knowledge, becarne a laboratory assistant in the laboratory of a large soap factory. Before long, however, she fell in love with a handsome young chemist whom she soon married, and is now living in a neat cottage near the laboratory of her husband. Norma Jean also informed me that Allen Huebner had become a prosperous business man in his hometown of Haysville. He began a Used Car and Junk Yard Business soon after his graduation. He started the Used Car Business with his Father's 32 Chevvie, in which every member of the class at least rode once, and soon added the Junk Yard Business by collecting the pieces that fell off of used cars and the left-overs that occurred when he dismantled and reassembled them. Hilda Heeke and Doris Destival had started a dress shop in partnership, I understand. These enterprising young ladies did quite well also, but Doris left the partnership and got married. She is now a housekeeper, leaving Hilda to manage the business alone. Norma also explained the varied details of Gloria Ann Basch. Gloria led a varied life as a stenographer, clerk in a department store, factory worker, and maid for a wealthy home. Then she decided to settle down for good and now spends all her time keeping Hubby pleased and happy. I further learned that Sylvester Kempf is now a carpenter, following his Father's steps. He now heads a crew of carpenters and does most of the construction of homes and other buildings around the community of Dubois. Helen Brosmer, it seems, began working in the office of her Father's factory. By using that means to gain experience, she worked her way up until she is now a Junior Partner of the firm and financially well-to-do. Lois Jean Matheis put her cheering qualities and agility to good use by becoming a ballet dancer. The cheerleading seems to have gone a long way in helping her to become successful. Also, she is married now, to a young man who was her dancing partner in a Broadway Musical Show. We know he's lucky because we all remember her radiant personality. Thomas Bachmang who aspired to be a farmer back in school days, decided to further his knowledge somewhat and he later attended a well-known agricultural school. He then accepted a job as a government soil expert and now travels about the country-side testing soils for farmers. CLASS PROPHECY QContinue dj Margaret Ann Thacker, whom I remember to be a talented and ambitious girl, decided to enter the business world. After having gone through Business School with flying colors, she accepted a position in a leading Insurance Company. Through brilliant work, and perserverance, she is now a Vice-President of the company, and is quite wealthy, owning an estate and a large shining automobile. Last but certainly not the least member of the class, we remembered Cyril Theising. Cyril, who was mathematically inclined, has been elected County Surveyor and Commissioner of Roads for two terms. So we see that at least one member has combined his profession with politics to reach his goal. Looking back over the years and remembering our happy days at D. H. S., I am gratified to see that our years spent there were of some good in helping us all to lead inspired and successful lives.
