Class History On September 6, 1943, thirty-one of the greenest of green freshrnen set sail in the little ship of Dubois out into the sea of Knowledge, The ship's Captain was Mr. Beeks, Mr. Jackson was Navigator, Mr. Zehr, Director and Miss McKanna was Storekeeper. Our crew members were: Anthony Denu, Jr. Josephine Eisenhut Anna Friedman Sara Jane Friedman Vera Gehlhausen Virginia Gehlhausen Pauline Goodman Bobbie Gene Hall Janice Hoffman Marjorie Huebner Walter Kalb Oleavia Kieffner Gerald Leistner Robert Loveall Leroy Mathies Cletus Meyer Dorthy Mae Meyer Willis Nigg Ella Mae Pieper Leroy Pieper Lorena Potts Betty Schepers Cletus Seger Ruth Seitz Helen Seng Delores Sermersheim Junior Strotman Shirley Voelkel Marie Weisheit Sarah Jane Zehr Robert Himsel Manning the crew were class officers: President: Gerald Leistner Vice President: Dorthy Mae Meyer Secretary: Anna Friedman I Treasurer: Shirley Voelkel Our class sponsor was Mr. Beeks. The queen attendants were: Vera Gehlhausen and Dorthy Mae Meyer. During the year we improved our minds with such tasty' dishes as: Algebra, English, Biology, Latin, Health and Safety. On Novexnber the 18th we were entertained with an initiation party by the Sophomores. Our journey closed in April and the entire crew were given four months shore leave. Upon our return to port in September 1944, one crew member, Robert Himsel was missing. We had the same officers as before. Dur- ing this trip we spent our time in such enjoyable pass-time as English, World History, Geometry, Bookkeeping, and General Business. The class officers were: President: Anna Friedman Vice President: Leroy Mathies Secretary: Ruth Seitz Treasurer: Janice Hoffmann Our class sponsor was Mr. Zehr, The queen attendants were: Anna Friedman and Oleavia Kieffner.
