The Universe holds more information than any one man could fathom. The Universe holds the record of every episode of time. Maybe one day we can solve this vast puzzle of ours. By Timothy E. Kuhlman Timothy E. Kuhlman 10 Leseberg Diana Mefford One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sandi one belonged to him, the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me. The LORD replied My precious child. I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.” 12 New Friends and Old Friends Make new friends but keep the old Those are silvers these are gold. The football season this year was one destined to be an experience gaining and rebuilding proposition. With only one Senior, a large group of Juniors and Sophomores gained valuable experience for the coming season. The win over Shoshoni, the last game of the year, will pave the way future successful seasons. During the season our team was well supported by our cheerleaders and fans. Coach Freeman 37 I'E- Fifth-fifty is the best way to describe the 1983 Volleyball Season the record was 8-8 with 8-6 in conference play. The team decided to really play ball at regionals. surprising everyone with some outstanding play against Shoshoni. Then the girls put the scare into Basin, but came up short in the end. The Rams had to beat WIHS to earn a berth at State Tournament, and did that the hard way by losing the 2nd game of the match 0-15. and then lost to Wind River for the third time this year. Kim Knowles and Heidi Ivie were named to the All Tournament Team. The Rams began State Tournament play by defeating a State Contender , Cheyenne Seaton then lost to Kemmerer, the team that eventually became State Champions. The girls came back to defeat Burns and ended the season with still another loss to Wind River but in losing that match we played our best game against our local rivals. The last Wind River game saw Paula Pickett playing her best match of the year. Trisha Freeman was named to the all State Tournament team Micky Rowe and Heidi were two of the very few sophomores to play at State and Shannon Wilson was a strong hitter all season. Patti Miller and Tacie Stevens also did a fine job all year and will be returning seniors in 1984. JUNIOR VARSI- TY SQUAD - Far Left Bottom. Standing: Man- ager Lee Rowe. Laurie Thomp- son. The Rams could never find the consistancy that was needed to be state contenders again this year. With the loss of only three Seniors, Gale Rose, Sam Albright, and Harry Leseberg. next year looks promising for the Rams. Basketball team got off to a slow start, but kept improving and finished the second half of the season as a very competitive team in our conference. The highlight of the year was a 72-59 victory over WIHS. that broke a 47 game winning streak for the Chiefs. We matured as a team throughout the year and realized that when we consistently played up to our potential we were a first class basketball team. We made commitments to carry this experience over to varsity next year, so that DHS will be a State Contender. -Coach Butkovich- 42 The Freshman basketball players im- proved throughout the year as individual players and as a team. The 1984 girls basketball team started slowly but gradually became a positive force in the Five Rivers Conference Race. The Lady Rams finished in a tie with the WIHS Lady Chiefs for fifth place in the Conference. They also received fifth seed in the Regional , Tournament, at which they were finally ousted by the WIHS in an exciting double overtime game on Saturday, which could have led to a trip to State. Cama Clark and Teralyn Jeffs were selected to the All- Conference Team. The lady rams will return several players from varsity and J.V. squads to form a nucleus for next year’s team, and fill in the positions that had been played by Seniors: Trisha Freeman, Kim Knowles, Paula Pickett, Shannon Wilson, Camma Clark, and Teralyn Jeffs. -Coach Freeman- 44 The Joy of Competing My heart beat fast as We readied for the game.
