Superintendent’s Message Life and education are one and the same thing. We need both depth and strength of character to live fully in our world today. We can only gain these things in our homes, our communities, our churches, and our schools. We certainly can use these qualities to obtain that measure of leadership and leaders today that have the following characteristics. People who agree genuinely in- terested in others, enthusiastic and creative, and have a deep faith in God. We need to be alive with lively thoughts for lively thoughts form a living program. Leadership needs to be through planning rather than by panic. Ehthusiasm is caught not taught. The purpose of education is the development of the self directed, self disciplined, and morally responsible individual who will live up to his capacity. A good leader is one who uses preventative rather than corrective leadership. Leadership is synonymous with influence. Be your own best image of leader- ship dont imitate. We should make our work that of coopera- tive involvement. Leadership is a process, not a person. Don’t work to get ahead of someone else Get ahead of yourself. The world isn’t a playground It’s a learning lab. Life isn’t a holiday it’s an education. Ideas don’t work unless you do. Value is learning for its own sake. Speak with clarity, confidence, and uniqueness both in words and by actions. School is just one of the areas in which to obtain the knowl- edge and needed abilities to success. The main idea that I want to put forth is that education is continuous. The things that we do, make pictures on the lives of others and build the pictures that others have of us. Success is that picture that others see of our lives and works. Each of us must be satisfied with our- selves. I wish you that measure of success that you desire to obtain from life. May your future years of activity be such as to leave footprints and pictures of achievement and happiness to your friends and loved ones. Live the full life and your life shall be full and worthwhile. b
