Carley Smith, president of the band, escorts Gayle Baxter off the football field. Gayle, band sweetheart, was pre sente d at the half to the crowd as the band played Let Me Call You Sweetheart. She is seen here carrying her flowers and wearing a happy smile. A cheer goes out as the football team comes out on the freld led by Pl11u1pS Granberry, a tri-captain. The cheerleaders, Pat Shillingburg, jan Hudson Ann Burrows, Norma Wllllam son, and Sandra Branum, hold a sign for the boys to run through as the stands roar

She was presented at a pre-game cere- mony the night of November 9. Homecomin November 9 , Homecoming, was a big night for D. H. S. I-lot coffee was in constant de- mand as a cold wind blew across the stands. It was the Lions vs. the DeLeon Bearcats. In pre-game and half-time ceremonies the football sweetheart and the band sweetheart were presented to the admiring crowd, The game was followed by a big ar cheerleaders. p ty sponsored by the art, ouquet of flowe k . December Signs of Christmas were seen everywhere as the holidays grew near. Blackboards grew gay with winter scenes like the one pictured by jamie Compton and Carol Robbins. Mrs.Caraway's home was covered in wrapping paper as a group of senior girls met there for their annual Christmas party. The F. T. A. also had a party at her home. The annual staff presented its photographer, Dean Bradley, with a baby rattler in assembly.
