THAT'S RIGHT! YOU!! Do you want to know what people are saying behind your back? What they think about your school, your actions, your life? Well, here's your chance- S 2'3 4. X Below there are five Dublinets from different occupations and parts of town, who were chosen to get a cross section of opinions about who we are To the best of our knowledge these people do not know each other and we wish to thank them for their time and candid comments. BERTHA COMPLAINT MR. PACHECO MONSIGNOR MORAN Question: Do you think there are enough extra-curricular activities? Bertha Complaint: There are too many activities for those kids. They never stay home like respectable people should. What, with all that, 'GOI FIGHT! KILLI' --at their football games and those blaring dances, I can't get my kids to bcd!!! Mr. Pacheco: There seems to be a lot of things going on-V.C.S.D. and Dublin Youth Council try to provide a lot of activities, but they don't seem to be too successful. Msgr. Moran: From what I have gathered, school activities keep the students very busy. Mr. Romeo: I think the student has to become very involved to test them- selves. Students should be able to communicate with their counselors and teach- ers. lf a student can't learn to communicate now, when he gets into the business world-he'll find it to be a very, very hard world. Mrs. Bennet: I really don't know too much about the activities tat Dublin Highl. I do like to watch their athletic adventures. Question: Do you think the kids are given enough homework? Bertha Complaint: These kids have no homework. All they do is watch movies. What ever happened to reading. writing, arithmetic'?'? All they take now are courses like Advanced Basketweaving and I.W.E. Those teachers are a bunch of - ww' hippies Mr. Pacheco: : The kids who are going to go to college seem to have a lot of homework It depends on the kids. The kids who apply themselves and try hard get a lot of homework. Msgr. Moran: I don't know too much about the homework Homework should prepare them fthe studentsj for the future. Mr. Romeo: tHe said he wasn't too sure about how much homework is assigned, but did think it necessary for college- bound studentsl College allows you to knock on the door. Competition will force you to get a higher education. Mrs. Bennet: The homework is probab- ly harder. We get some pretty tricky questions to help find answers to-We've been put to the test sometimes, trying to find answers for the kids. Question: Do you think the moral values are the same as they were when you were in school? Bertha Complaint: Teenagers have no morals. All those T.V. shows like Brady Bunch and Happy Days are filling their heads with filth. Like holding hands in MR. ROMEO public and dating before 2l!! Thcv have NO respect. These kids will grow up majoring in pick-ups, parties, and police arrests!! Mr. Pacheco: Morals have changed. When I was younger many things young people now discuss with their parents went undiscussed. flt's onlyj l0'Zi of the kids that are the bad ones-who unfortunately get the headlines. Msgr. Moran: Society as a whole has changed in the past few years. Students have changed no more than society. Mr. Romeo: Todays students think differently. They're freer in some respects. Our parents had tighter control. Changes have been revolving in the last fifteen or six- teen years. We did many ofthe same things kids do today, but more secretly. Drugs are playing a bigger part than they did back then. Mrs. Bennet: The moral values have changed as much as those of any other kids .. . values are changing. I have different values than the rest ofthe library staff be- cause ofthe age difference. Question: If you would, could you sum up your thoughts and feelings about the Dub- lin High Student? Bertha Complaint: Well, they're a bunch of freeloaders. They get everything handed to them on a silver platter. They're a bunch of bums who step all over my lawn and have noisy, radical parties! The school looks like a Juvenile Hall. The know the Presi- dent ofthe United States would NEVER come from Dublin High: Mr. Pacheco: Over the last three years I've employed eight Dublin High students- all have been good workers. Dublin has a good group of kids. Most of them have high moral values. Dublin has a good teaching staff Mr. Hagler's funnier than hell. Dublin High's no worse.nor better than other schools taround the valleylf' Msgr. Moran: My contact with the kids has always been very rewarding. I enjoy work- ing with the different committees for the baccalaureate. They leave me with good im- pressions. I think the kids are lucky to have the opportunity to live and go to school in an area like this-one that has many bene- fits as compared to the other parts of the world. They're lucky to have Mr. Hagler. l'm very impressed with him ... he's a ded- icated man. Mr. Romeo: Last year I went to the school and talked to a group of Seniors. I talked about banking in general. The students were very alert, very sharp. I got the impression they were a very aware group. I would say that the students I have talked with would make good citizens. Mrs. Bennet: The Dublin High kids are a lively group. We get all sorts of kids from the serious super-student to the ones who have nothing to do and just want to goof around. I like them fthe D.H.S. studentsl -They're a great bunch of kids.
