We thank all those who helped make this annual possible by their time, effort, co-operation, and patience. We have pointed outclasses, faculty, students, sports, and special events so you can recall the years we have spent together at Dublin High School. We have tried to depict for you Dublin High School in the many phases that have helped in further- ing our education. It is our pleasure to honor Mrs. Dorothy Carter Reckin our 1960 Maple Leaves. I IM Our inspiration for the day is found in homeroom devotions. Great opportunities to expand our horizon may be derived from classes in history, art, languages, English, sciences, and vocational subjects. The thoughtful consideration of information and experience in these varied areas gives enrichment to our lives now, and helps prepare us for taking our places in the adult world. ■ I AND SURROUNDING US IS THE CONSTANT REMINDER OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT ARE OURS - hod vole. -fnnBW — hviftr ! !■ f (! ■« c 9 h Or l£rti t Nuzlcui i yr — kJucie 1 4 (ruUai- V— ml WE TREASURE BOTH THE The routine of each day sweeps the adminis - tration and the students through a maze of activities that are necessary for the smooth operation of a large school. The day begins for the absentees by obtaining an excuse to re-enter classes from Mr. Dobson. The administration and staff are always on hand to instruct, advise, and direct in all our undertakings. Classes, homework, projects, tests, research, and term papers give the body and framework to our education. Physical education gives instruction in health, first aid, driver training, and provides for participation in games and systematic exercise. We learn to become good spectators and to partici- pate with good sportsmanship. [ v iO - -- t ' T ■ IS AN INTERESTING AND WELL- ' C OURS Shop experience in some of our vocational classes gives practice workin understanding and using machinery. ROUNDED CURRICULUM Chemistry is becoming increasingly impor tant in our world where science is stressed. More ?nd more opportunities are offered to those with scientific training. 1 1 ACTIVE PARTICIPATION Clubs provide our stu- dents with many oppor- tunities to serve our school and to promote good citizenship. An im- portant part of school is carried on by such organ- izations as Beta Club, F. T.A. , F.H.A., F.F.A., Key Club, and student publi- cations. IN STUDENT 12 PRINCIPAL ' S MESSAGE In this, your 1959-60 Dublin High School year- bookyou will have a treas- ury of highlights, activi- ties, and events of this school year. SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Jimmy Graham Wayne Bruce . . Vice President Linda Sayers Mont Quesenberry Loy Harris I J SENIOR CLASS I960 In September 1955, approximately three-hundred bewildered students entered Dublin High School. It took us quite a long time to become acquainted with the new building and the various high school activities. We worked very hard all that year to keep up with all our studies and the fast pace of high school life. The many clubs and sports offered us an opportunity to work together and become better acquainted with our teachers and fellow students. We were beginning to realize and appreciate the values of a high school education. 25 SENIOR CLASS I960 We were in the full swing of things cur sophomore year as we started planning our careers. We chose our courses carefully because they formed the foundation for our life ' s work. We had many important decisions to make; however, we received much help from our guidance director, as well as, from our teachers. The prom brought to our minds a great number of old memories embodied in the theme Moments to Remember ; and Somewhere Over the Rainbow portrayed successfully the idea of our banquet. 29 PULASKI county high school library SENIOR CLASS I960 As 1960 drew nearer we became tense with excitement as we made plans for the long awaited moment when we would receive our high school diplomas. We worked hard many years, and at last graduation came. After graduation, we all went in different directions- each taking his station in his community, his state, and his nation. SENIOR CLASS I960 The four major sports- -football, basketball, track, and baseball- -have played a big part in our high school life. One of the biggest thrills was being the District VI champions in football for two consecutive years. We had very successful seasons in the other sports which provided their share of excitement. 33 SENIOR CLASS I960 Some of us chose music as our elective course in high school. The band and chorus provided many assemblies and other opportunities for us to perform before our school and the surround- ing areas. Music has been hard work, but, at all times, we have had a sense of pride in our accomplishment, even though the performance has not been perfect. It was here that we first began to know our- selves and to set up a purpose in life. Often we have left undone those things we ought to have done; and have done those things which we ought not to have done, but we are grateful for the many and varied onportunities which have come our way. Each senior has been influenced 1 36 Clyde George West, Jr. Catherine Sue Wheeling Rosalind Zona Wilson Junior Cathy Snicky Willie A. Wilson Ernestine Woodyard Wee Willie Stene greatly by the guidance and knowledge that he has received. We feel our school offers outstand- ing instruction in the fields of science, of languages, of home economics, of business, of agri- culture, of music, or of arts and some of us are leaving Dublin leaning toward a particular field. Graduation will commence a new era for each of us and we hope to approach the future with courage, enthusiasm, and a desire to achieve some degree of success in what ever we under- take. 37 BOY’S AND GIRL’S STATE First row: SaudraLoar, Bren- da McGhee, PatRigney. SPRING SPORTS The spring sports at Dublin High School have advanced the school ' s athletic program and have also given the school additional recognition in this area of the state. Baseball was one of the first sports at Dublin and it has advanced considerably since its first days at the old Dublin In- stitute. For example, the 1959 team won the Golden Triangle Championship. Ken Dobson, now assistant principal, was the coach; and he and the team are to be congratulated for their out- standing representation of Dublin High School. For the track team, it could be truthfully said that it has done its partfor D. H. S. Track is the youngest sport at Dublin, with the exception of wrestling, which was started this past year under the coaching of Dave Brown. The track team placed second in the district meet and then went on to the state track meet to win fifth place. The advancement of the athletic program has, not only, provided exceptional entertainment for spec- tators, but also, has provided a greater variety of activities in which a larger number of students may participate. 92 JUNIOR VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Betty Jo Crane Linda Smith Sue Pannell VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Linda Sayers Sandra Loar Ann Brown Ernestine Woodyard ACTIVITIES Idsel Simmj Glenda Smothers Vice President Linda Sabers Secretary Roger Micou Reporter obpy Bruce .Chaplain Jimmy Graham Parliamentarian Mr. Kenneth J.
