George Graves and Jim Laffin led the way for Duarte ' s best football team in years. The team set a standard for themselves and kept it throughout the season by winning their first five games. Highlighting the season was George Graves ' 225 yards rushing at Baldwin Park, Teddy Myles ' outstanding game at Artesia, and Jim Laff in ' s fourteen unassisted tackles against San Marino. The big win over San Marino put Duarte on top. Duarte was number one! Homecoming brought another night of spectacular football. The forceful Falcons took South Pasadena 28-0. Ending the season with a seven and two record. The Falcons finished ninth in the top ten of the 2 A division (a first for Duarte), and rated every week by C.I.F., placing fourth in scoring in the Valley, and fifth in defense. 22
