THE FLHSHLIGHT snatcher of the Tattler -I feel sorry for her victims. Weren't you surprised when Liz and Karl broke their engagement? Must have been another woman in the case. Elizabeth Wiehn and Helen Reid have organized a Spinsters' Club in that old haunted house that is just on the edge of town. Joe Meyers made good in the movies, and is now a well-known villain. Dollie Furlow is dancing in the Follies this year. James Genesio is the coach for the Independent football team in Du Quoin, which was organized a few years ago. He is trying to get a game with Harvard. Halene Tyler and Osa Huggins recently opened an exclusive millinery shop on Fifth Avenue. Loren Morris is now teaching dancing at the Lyric Hall, Du Quoin. George House is conducting a column in the Du Quoin Evening Call, known as Advice for Young People. Elma Blanchard started out to be a stenographer, but was offered a more lucrative position as model for Clarence Taylor, the famous cartoonist, which she has accepted instead. Ray Bailey has been ordained a mine ister of the gospel, and has charge of a church in Pinckneyville. Alene Metten is doing settlement work here at present. She expects to enter the movies soon-Clara Bow has just died. Neil Purtill is chief instruc- tor in the deaf and dumb school at Jacksonville. Frank and Helen George are in vaudeville-they have a novelty trapeze act. Gail Kennedy is now teaching Latin in the Elkville High School. Karl Marlow is Du Quoin's Speed Cop at present-rather a fast prop- osition. Pauline Naylor has achieved her ambition to be an old man's darling, and is now married to a rich man who is twice her age. The Brogdon-House Detective Agency, established here several years ago by two of our old classmates, has gained enviable reputation. It is the foremost agency in the country. Edna Gore is teaching Physical Culture in a local high school, assisted by Ruth Bailey. Robert Rich has been practicing law in Denny for several years, and has quite a large clien- tele. Ruth Kelly is a novelty train caller in a Chicago station. Ray Scott is the author of the latest literary sensation, How I Lost My Fortune in Monte Carlo. Virgil Combs is hailed as the second Al Jolson of the stage. Florence Croessmann is a wardrobe mistress for the Scandels. Herbert Dunbar, who is a daring aviator, recently perfected an import- ant invention applicable to all flying machines. Alice Roach will address the Mother's Club on Scientific Feeding of High School Students, this afternoon. She is quite a renowned pub- lic speaker now. No doubt you will be surprised to hear from me, but I have been thinking of the good times that we used to have in dear old D. T. H. S., and I suppose you will want to know of the things that I have learned during my recent tour of the country, concerning our old classmates of those never-to-be-forgotten days. In the first place, let me congratulate you on your successful beauty parlor, and your latest creation, the No-Shine Liquid Powder. In regard to the powder, I have found it invaluable. P So much has happened in the last ten years since we left D. T. H. S.! I hear that Marguerite Bates is doing wonderful missionary work in China, and that she has converted ever so many of the natives. That cer- tainly is commendable. Walter and Cecile were married soon after they were graduated. They were contented with their little bungalow and flivver until Cecile started out after a career --Poor Walter. When I was visiting in Chicago several weeks ago, whom do you think I met- Harold Kays! He is proprietor of a second-hand clothing shop, and from all reports is doing well. THE FLGSHLIGHT is now drawing a salary of 1,500 a year as president and chief janitor of the Janitors' Association of the World. Genevieve Melvin has per- fected a new hair dye-she does not use it herself. Leah has established a select institution for reducing heavyweights-no starving, no exercises. I wonder how she does, it? Cliiford, who is running for President on the Socialist ticket, is married to Goldie, Vice-President of the Suffragette League. Bill Dunn is a journalist of distinction-perhaps you have read his articles on How to Make a Hen Lay Two Eggs a Day. Stella Gar- land is now in charge of a large kindergarten, and each morning Velma Bailey comes to teach the little children to sing. Clementine has been disappointed in love and is now a confirmed manhater. Arol Preston is now mayor of Pyatt Station. Walter Stan- house is driving a coal wagon in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Leo Kringer is driving a bus from Du Quoin to Tamaroa, so that all the Tamaroa stu- dents can get their education. As my work is calling me, I must close.
