He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1967 and received a commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. Following his commissioning, he served in the Navy's first guided missile destroyer, USS GYATT QDD-7125 as First Lieutenant and ASW Officer. In May 1969 he detached and attended Destroyer Department Head School in Newport, Rhode Island. Commander Geismar's next tour at sea fol- lowed in February 1970 as Weapons Officer onboard USS Carpenter CDD-8255. He split toured as Engineering Officer in USS CAYUGA QLST-11863 in July 1971. In December 1972 Commander Geismar commenced and later completed a Master's Degree from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California in Operations Analy- sis. He returned to sea duty in July 1979 as Weapons Officer in USS COONTZ QDDG-405. Upon completion of this tour he assumed his current duties as Executive Officer, USS DUPONT. Commander Geismar's decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Com- mendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. Commander Geismar married the for- mer Joan Marie Harper of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey in December 1967. They have three children David, Michael and Amy.

ZS COMMANDER JOHN SH OBER BURROWS III Commander Burrows has been the Commanding Officer since December 1981. A graduate of the New York State Maritime College in 1962, Commander Burrows served as En- gineering Officer on the Navy's only minehunter, USS BITTERN QMHC- 435 and as First Lieutenant and ASW Officer on USS H.E. Yarnell QCG-175 Following a tour in the Officer Tactical Branch at Fleet Sonar School in Key West, Florida, he completed Department Head School and reported aboard USS DUPONT QDD-9415 for duty as Operations Officer then Executive Offi- cer. This was followed by duty as an Exchange Officer on a joint Royal Navy!Air Force Staff in Edinburgh, Scotland. He then joined the staff of Commander Cruiser Destroyer Group EIGHT as Staff Scheduler and Assistant Surface Operations Officer. His next afloat assignment was as Execu- tive Officer of USS CONYNGHAM QDDG-175. Commander Burrows returned to DUPONT fol- lowing duty as Weapons Training Officer at the Fleet Combat Training Center, Atlantic, at Dam Neck, Virginia, and as a student at the College of Naval Warfare at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Commander Burrows' decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal. Commander Burrow is married to the former Daphne Jean Stirling of Surrey, Camberly, Eng- land, and they have three children, Deborah, Don- na and John, IV.
