None of us Knew for sure at that time just what would be required of us. and although we were awe-re that this was not going to be a sight-seeing trip, we had high hopes of going all the way around the world after our work was complet ed. But ae it turn 1-,' ed out this was not to be. ' Our assignment in the XLS. SESYTLWYH Fleet to provide gun fire support for the 2hlY.D harine Division and l?-Th Marine Regiment at the DMZ was a challenging and rewarding experience. Challenging because of the long hours of firing day and night, and the constant thi' sat of our being fired upon by North Vietnamese guns. 'Rewarding because we Knew that our gun fire was helping the UAS. Marines and allied forces here. ears to come, l know that each of us will t the many records set and the jobs rough weather and the rounds of s a we look bac remember the continual te well done.
