Secretary Marjorie Lobuts Top-This petite blonde, whom you may think is one of the students when you pass her in the hall, is our school secretary - a very efficient one, too, we might add. Mrs. liobuts has quite 21 job taking care of school records, transcripts, bookstore sales, two daily announcement sheets, and the financial books. liottom-There are eight office assistants that Mrs. Lobuts describes in one sentence, They are courteous, attractive, efficient, and helpful. Qur Principal In doing a bit of writing for the year- book that has as its theme, Fairyland, one runs into quite a problem. I wish to present a strong feeling that the present-day school has more wonders than any fairy would have whispered to your parents in the happy days of the past quarter century. Our students take for granted things that their parents doubted were practical. I am no Grand- Dad, yet I can recall when the radio was a crude playtoy. A set of earphones dangled from one's ears, while you twisted some dials to get the most awful squeals and yowlings, with a splattering of music and voices. Some opined it would never catch on. Nowadays, in your study of Com- munication and Transportation, more Fairy Doings are discovered. Dad and Mother did their courting under the watchful eye of The Man in the Moon. If the Fairies continue to weave their magic spell over engineering design, your children may be doing their sparking on Mars and honeymooning on the Moon. 6 The wife has been freed by the magic wand of electricity that washes and dries, scrubs and fries, kills germs and flies. All her drudgery goes down the drain. So it goes in the Fairyland of everyday affairs. What about those other sprites that infilter our dreams and pester our aspir- ations? Most faculty members deplore the daydreaming student. But who is to say that the occasional out-of-bounds attention is not the same dreams of youth that brought Lindbergh into the air, and Edison to light the world. Always, the thoughts of Youth are long, long thoughts. And the good Fairy that guides the thinkers of our high school boys and girls will be quite happy when she totals the score for today's DuPont High. We believe they have learned that a Fairyland is wonderful, but only those who combine hard work with dreams will be able to live it again and again in the passing years with pride as well as pleasure. During this time he can forget about the boys who skipped Study Hall last period or the fight on the school grounds he had to break up. But there is a better side to his job. There are those who come to him for sound advice about their future, or prob- lems of the present. Even though he is a busy man, the results of his time and effort are admired by everyone. DEAN VIOLET CAMPBELL Our Dean of Girls has many jobs inside of one. Her work takes care of the girl who sud- denly discovers that she has forgotten her money for the T.B. X-Ray or pay movie as well as the girl who looks to her for the motherly advice she can't get at home. Even though her office occupies but a small space on the first floor, her tasks are certainly not limited to this space. The girls at DuPont High School are appreciative of this job well done. A -L--H
