ll ll I l l l l 10 Community A PART OF CITY Students invade Spfld. With the beginning of the fall term, Springfield began to once again see students in the community. Return- ing students had their favorite stores and eating places picked out. Freshmen not only had a new col- lege community to adjust to, but also a new city. Sunday night supper was not served in the Commons so students were pushed into the community for din- ner. Hamburgers, pizza, and cashew chicken made up many students' Sunday menus. Although students' interests were centered on the college, they also found time to make use of the com- munity. Springfield offered shopping and some entertainment. Most stu- dents eventually found themselves familiar with places like the Mall, the Square, Pappy's and Wicker Works. Everyone knew the directions to the nearest Git-n-Go, McDonald's and Pizza Inn. .,.........,1..........,,,............-..--.- X i i l I.
