The time has come for us to say farewell to yet another senior class. Each class leaves its own special memory, and for the Class of 1987, that memory is friendship. You have shown us a unique sense of openness, support, and caring to family and friends. These traits will be with you for the rest of your lives, and will help to give you a better understanding of all people. On behalf of the administration, we wish you all the best for a bright and successful future. Roger Cirone Principal We are happy to announce that the 1987 Drury Nathanite IS being dedicated to Mr. Robert Dean. Mr. Dean a veteran of World War II started his teaching career at Brayton School in 1950 at the seventh and eighth grade levels. In 1956 a position opened at Drury to allow him to transfer to the high school level to teach his favorite subject -- US History. Although some people might have questioned always had a strong interest in working with young people. I am very glad that decision was made so long ago V The students at our high school have been won- derful to me. I have often thought that North Ad- ams is very fortunate to have so many good young people My years at Drury have been very happy and rewarding The faculty members over the years have always been very strong dedicated hard- I I . I him on why he wanted to teach, he said he has I I I working, compassionate people, and they have cer- tainly done an excellent job of preparing our young people for the adult world and the adult life. I will miss all of the members of our faculty a great deal. When asked how he felt about retirement, he says that retirement is not really an easy step to take in life, but in my mind it is a step that the individual should take if and when the opportunity arises. At this point in time, Mr. Dean has no concrete plans on what he would like to do during retire- ment, but he did mention that he would like to travel throughout the U.S. at a very slow, leisurely pace, and see the wonderful country we live in. Mr. Dean, from Drury to you, we hope you have a very happy and relaxed retirement, We give our thanks for your warm, kind, and understanding ways, teaching us so much about the country that we live in, and we give you our best wishes for your dream to see our country come true. 1 Dia HM I LLQWE X 3 9- 'KR I if N Q X . Mrs. Mancuso's decision to go into the field of teaching was based on her feelings of people. I like people and enjoy showing others how to do things. It was also a very big help in raising my family. After attending St. Rose's College in Albany, and the University of Maine in Farmington, she taught in Maine in 1946, and then later in the Boston Public School System. Drury faculty members are on the whole a warm, fun-loving, deeply caring group of people who are dedicated to helping the youth of North Adams. I've enjoyed watching the freshmen enter so enthusiastically, and watched their personalities develop as they mature toward senior year. I'm leaving with fond memories. Mrs. Mancuso plans to be a color consultant and wardrobe advisor for area men and women after your future activities I At this time I would like to answer two questions that many people have about the 1987 yearbook. First, the reason why the book is so small and second the lateness Throughout the year, with a new staff and advisor, many different things that we tried failed. The yearbook staff found at the end an insufficient lack of funds and people. Although small, we did the best we could with what we had. I want to thank the people who helped over the summer on this yearbook, the senior class officers for all their time and energy, and the faculty for allowing a lot of things throughout the year. A special thanks to the administration and Mr. Cirone for their patience and understanding, Moderne Studios for their photos and their supportg and finally Mr. Gagnon for all his help along the way. Lastly, I want to thank the students for their ideas, and for your cooperation with the faculty and yearbook staff, and for putting up with a lot of things they shouldn't have. Thank you all very much.
