Drury played probably its best game of the year in losing to powerful Wahconah on Noel Field 20-12. Wahconah led at halftime 7-6, until the Devil offense came up with a TD on a perfect Jammallo to Puppolo pass which covered 33 yards. Two fumbles in the 3rd quarter bolted Drury's scoring drives. Drury's new wishbone offense worked very smoothly, prod- ucing a well-balanced running attack. Libardi went 17-87, Ghidotti 10-33, Jammallo 8 for 56 and Johnson 9-57. Drury's passing attack was also sound, as Johnson completed 5 passes in 9 attempts for 62 yds., and Jam- mallo was one for one for 33 yds. The Devil defense was led by Falcon and Johnson with the assistance of McKean, Dassatti, Thomann and Simon. Drury snapped a 3 game losing streak by squashing Monumeny Mt. 24- 0. Bruce Johnson played his best game of the year as he scored 3 TD's, and gained a total of 81 yards in 9 attempts. Joe Jammallo played his best game also, gaining 147 yards in only 16 carries to lead the Devil ground game. Ghidotti, Falcon, Jammallo and Dickenson paced the shut-out minded Drury defense. Drury fought hard but lost a 26-20 decision to Taconic in the 7th game of the year. Jammallo led the Devil ground gainers for the second game in a row, eating up 74 yds. of turf in 1 1 carries, while Johnson and Libardi both lugged for 38 yds. Johnson, Libardi, and Jammallo scored the three Devil TD's, with Libardi running over the goal line for the two extra points. Bob Dickenson, Mike Falcon, and Jammallo were the mainstays of the Devil defense. ln the tradition-filled, year ending Hoosac game, Drury lost a heart- breaker 12-8, after leading most of the way. With Drury ahead 8-6, and with only 1 :24 left on the clock, Hoosac's quarterback Steve Bondine com- pleted a desperation pass for a Hoosac TD. The entire lirst half of the game was a battle of tough defenses as the two teams went to the locker room with a scoreless tie. Jim Simon's 37 yard run early in the 3rd period set up Johnson's one yard run for the only Devil TD. Johnson then passed to Libardi for a 2 pt. conversion. Hoosac then scored a quick TD but missed the extra points, leaving the score 8-6, where it remained until the game ruining terror by Bondine. Jim Simon played a great game for Drury, gain- ing 74 yards in 12 carries. Libardi gained 48 in 13 carries. The Drury defense was magnificent, led by Ghidotti, Crawford, Falcon, Johnson, Markland and Jamallo. sf.. H e- V- . Q---.H 1 f -. - fl .. Anthony 38-O, behind a four touchdown attack by Dave Libardi. Drury scored five touchdowns, with the other one being scored by Mike Falcon on a 3 yd. plunge from scrimage. The Drury rushing attacks were well balanced as Libardi picked up 98 yds. on l l car- ries, while Mike Falcon and George Galli went 8 for 47 and 2 for 34 respectively. Defensively, Jammallo, Falcon and Crawford led the tenuous Drury defense, which allowed Mt. Anthony only 173 yards in total offense. Drury picked up their second win of the season by trouncing St. Joe of Pittsfield 34-O. Joe JammalIo's passing arm was in fine form as he completed 2 touchdown passes to Libardi in the first half, one for 33 and another for 42 yards. Jammallo scored a TD himself in the second half, and George Galli also crossed the goal line twice in the fourth quarter, once on a I9 yard pass from Bruce Johnson and once on a 3 yard plunge over the goal line. The Drury defense was fantastic, allowing St. Joe only 34 yds. rushing and 22 in the air. Coach Cirone said it was impossible to single-out any defensive standouts, and the entire defensive line did an excel- lent iob. Northampton's highly-touted wishbone offense stunned Drury 31-16 in the third game of the season. Drury misuses probably caused the loss as two fumbles and a blocked punt set up three Northampton TD's. Mike Falcon and Dave Libardi scored the two Devil TD's, and also led the Devil ground game with I28 and 42 yards respectively, while Jammallo completed 4 of 6 passes for 34 yards. The Devil defense was led by Co-Captains Crawford and Ghidotti, and Mike Falcon, Jim Simon, Bruce Johnson, and Joe Jammallo. Running back George Galli sustained a knee iniury in the game, which was to start a series of complications and put three sport athletes out of action for both football and basketball. Drury suffered it's second loss at the hands of Pittsfield, as the Generals beat Drury 20-6 in a night game at Wahconah Park. Drury was down I4-6 at the half, with what was to be their only TD, scored by Bruce Johnson on a 4 yd. run. Although the Devil offense was stymied, Coach Cirone had particular praise for the defense which he said was outstanding. Bruce Johnson, Dave Puppolo, Ron Chenail and Matt Crawford all excelled on defense. 1 ' i Co-Captains Matt Crawford and Gary Ghidotti 1 1
