FOREWORD Books are keys to Wisdomls treasures, Books are keys to lands of pleasures, Books are paths that upward lead, Books are friends, come let us read. Books are means to joyous daysg Books are friendsg come let us gaze. Welcome to our 1962 Nathanite. With the idea of presenting the past year's oc- currences in a memorable manner we have worked that our book might be per- fect even to the smallest detail. Before it was finished, we realized that all our dreams had not come true. However, as our founder and namesake, Nathan Drury, clung to his vision of a better future, so we have fostered our hopes of perfection, which have culminated in this Nathanite of 1962. Silhouettes were chosen for our division pages to symbolize those whom we know and shall always remember as the years go by - even if particular names and faces do grow obscure. Each of these figures is looking heavenward to signify our never-ending pursuit of the epitome of success, the acme of happiness and the joys of paradise. The creation of any book is an adventure - an adventure into which one enters with all possible zest and zeal. So it was that the Nathanite Staff set out to create a new yearbook, one which might reflect the ardent spirit of the Drury High School Class of 1962, and radiate some of its ideals in the pages of a book. May each page recall some of this spirit and some of these ideals to your memory. After four enjoyable years together we have come to the sad parting of ways. Our senior prom, class night and all graduation ceremonies have brought oc- casions of rejoicing with melancholy overtones. May we be together many times in the years ahead to relive all that is pictured within this volume. We are most thankful to those whose loyal support has made this book possible. All are urged to patronize the business establislmuems which have their services advertised herein. Some have memories of part-time employment in them, while all recall the courtesy with which we have been received. 3 1
