PRINCIPAUS MESSAGE It is a sincere pleasure to Write a few thoughts for the Class of 1961. Similar to last year, this has an additional meaning for another milestone has been reached. During the Revolutionary War Thomas Paine stated, '4These are the times that try men's souls. History is replete with such times. You are living, at this moment, in trying times. The spread of Communism, integration, missile development, and complacent citizens are 'alarming in their extent. To curb this extent is to demand greater strength on the part of many than ever before. This strength is not only to be physical but also moral. Moral strength is strength of character. The implication is that there must be knowledge of truth and fulfillment of this truth. The fulfillment of truth is where strength of character prevails. These thoughts are given to you for reflection and analysis of your status, as you enter another phase of your life. You will adjust to the challenges of the times according to your strengths and weaknesses. As an American, reaping the benefits of our Wonderful Way of life, you are duty-bound to develop to the best of your capacity. It means continual hard work and study.
