For every engineer there is need for six technicians to prepare the design and for each technician there must be twenty workmen to do the job. In addition to these, we must have research workers looking for the new and better way while the record keepers maintain order, so that chaos and confusion may be avoided. Where in this scheme of things is your place? You and you alone must make the final decision. The place is there. Are you ready for it? Mr. Robert N. Taylor, Superintendent of Schools XTX, figs, .Q-' ,llfkflliflssfl 'iff' MESSAGE TO THE SENIORS Throughout history, countries have gone through periods of serenity and periods of anxiety. There is no set pattern as to their sequence. You, the members of the Class of 1958, are in a period of anxiety where countries are competing for the psychological advantage in World supremacy. Our great country, the envy of all, is in the middle of the struggle. From the opportunities given to you as individuals, your country expects you to continue your self-development to the best of your capacity. If you conclude your high school days determined to maintain and continue the spirit of self-development, you will repay the trust and faith confided to you by your superiors and the citizens of the country. Be strong in mind and in character as you proceed along Life's highway. Best wishes for success and Well-being to all in the Class of 1958. Mr. Stephen Drotter, Principal of Drury High School TO THE CLASS OF 1958 You are living in exciting, stimulating and perilous times. Exciting, because man is on his way to conquer outer space. Satellites are already circling the earth. Close to reality are manned satellites, space platforms, trips to the moon and planets. Stimulating, because we see opened up to us a world of limitless promises. As never before there will be opportunities and scholarships in colleges for those who exercise initiative and are willing to study and work hard. Perilous, because any nation which outstrips us in pure research and then tech- nology may, by blackmail and force, isolate us as a world power. Let us then resolve to cultivate our talents to the limit of our ability. first to serve our country and secondly to allow us to enjoy a measure of health, happiness. and prosperity never before achieved.
