VVe take you to a secluded spot a few miles out of town. As we drive along the highway with Chauffeur Raymond Bissaillon in Max Bishop's Black Poodle Bus, which he purchased from the Greyhound Lines', a large, brightly lighted building looms in view. Sounds of music and merry laughter, along with a few blood curdling screams can be heard from the road. lt is the Huba-Huba Night Club, owned and operated by Dick Kelly and Rog Duxbury. We enter into a beautifully designed and furnished dining room. Demi Davis, our talented artist painted the murals, while Tony Pessalano, Fred Perry, Valmore Plantier and Milton Sartori were responsible for the construction and furnishing of this building. The floor show is in progress, our Master of Ceremonies, Frank Sinclitico, has just introduced our talent- ed singer Carolyn McNeil. She is accompanied by Joyce Rector and her Terrific Trio, Ed Kennedy, Louie Parisien, and Jay Strange. ' At the close of this number the lights dim and the band strikes up a fan-fare. Out skips our chorus. lt's Shirl Liberty, Ruthy LaForest, Shirl Tatro, Dot Alderman, Phil Trombley and Dot Hubbard. Two Shir1s, two Dots, a Ruth and a Phil. Due to the loud volume of applause after their number, they begin an encore. We take you to the table which did the most applauding. Why, it's Bob Lilly, Mahlon Hayden, Loren Warner, and Roy Allen, the actors and managers of the jolly Follies Theatre and Play House. The first floor show for the evening is over and the hall is lighted so that we may gaze upon the celeb- rities. There are Representative Vivaldi and Senator McGrory, who, by the way, is rumored to run for presi- dent with Secretary of State Ernest Roy, as his opponent. Izzy stops to chat with the lovely Broadway star, Mary Kordek. And there are the glamorous owners of that ultra modern dress shop. The Plastic Zipper, Misses joan O'Hearn, Pat Welch and Myrna Goldstein. Notice the gowns they have on! Q All are original crea- tions. No wonder those airline executives at the next table, R. L. Rosasco, R. H. Sanford, R. C. Slade and their daring test pilot, Phil Barnes, keep giving them the eye. Yes, the three R's of the airways are really stepping out tonight. At a near-by table Dot Laino, owner of the Owl Dress Shop, and her assistants Fay Poirot, and Joanna Luczynski are casting furtive glances toward their business rivals from The Plastic Zipper. Our Mayor Ronald Sprague is at the corner table with two of his appointees, Fire Chief, Red Sey- mour and Chief of Police, Matty Flanagan. His Honor looks a little peeved. It seems that Seymour and Flanagan were found at Sam's CAvdoulosD Pool Room while the Bank, which is run by James VVilliams, james Broderick, and Bob Manuel was robbed and burned down. Private Detective McNine is working on the case while Bill Houghton and James Kelly are the defendants lawyers. The sound of a well known automobile horn is heard above the soft music. Yes, it's E. T. P. Flynn, the jovial Undertaker, the heir to the Flynn and Flynn funeral homes driving up in his 1956 Cadillac. There is a reunion of some old friends, Mary O'Brien, physical education instructor at a Vermont college and Ann Perkins, Evie Danlowitz and Sally Mausert who run a home for discharged sailors. They are talking over old times. Since they head for the bar Csodaj we turn our attention there too. We find our professional athlete, Gordie Neville, in training, sipping his homogenized milk and talking over the com- ing sports events with Howie George, Adolph Heideman and Don Myal, who are all in town for an A. W. Q. P. Convention. CGoodness only knows what that means.j They too are enjoying a few refreshments. Don Yiens, our singing waiter, back from the Navy, passes by. The delicious looking food was pre- pared by our famous chefs, the Di Lego Brothers and Bert Pedercine aided by those whizzes of the kitchen, Mary Tassone, Marguerite Senecal, Eleanor Saunders, and Anne Roy. But back in the dining room, a group of graduate nurses, Betty-Anderson, Sara Candiloro, Claire Taylor and Lydia Jackson are giving a farewell party for their classmate, Bernadette Crowley, who is ta k- ing a position with Richard Hosley, M.D. We wish her luck and pass on to another table where Super- 4 intendent of Schools, Francis Perenick is entertaining a few visiting teachers, Marie Gibson, Alice Walker, Loretta Lopardo and Janet Venable. Adrian Bonvouloir, Normand Robert and Murray Lewis, the new owners of the Duke , formerly the Wellington Hotel, along with their desk clerk, Angela Tocco and their charming hostess, Louise Fran- chomme, have just dropped in for a moment. Our handsome young man about town, The Robert Emery Windover, Esquire III enters the Blue Room and as he passes a table, he is hailed by the young ladies who model clothing in The Plastic Zipper Dress Shop-Shirley Johnson, Viv Roberts, Rhoda Cramer, f'Ike Bussey, Pat Plumb and Doris Barnes. Blase Bob gives them a tired wave and moves on through the crowd with a far away look in his eye. The strains of the Happy Birthday Song fill the club. It is radio announcer Jean Ballard's birth- day and some of her friends are giving her a party. A cake baked in Marguerite O'Neill's and Josephine Cardillo's Bakery is brought in by our head waitress Barbara Peters assisted by one of the Clubs other charming waitresses, Mary Gomeau. Our attention is now drawn to a party composed of Doctor H. Philie, our town's leading dentist and his three assistants, 'fLil Gregalis his dental hygienist, Lucille Desnoyers, his private secretary and Jennie Cariddi, his office girl. The Doc is showing the girls a couple of tricksfcard tricks. We now turn our attention to a table where the town's beauticians are having an evening of enjoy- ment. They jointly own the Ye Olde Repaire Shoppee -beauty salon of Carolyn Barbeau, Dot Del- Debbio, Mary Campanardi and Evelyn Baxter. We find Ann Provencher, Doris Stevens, Lois Rubin and Elinor Hofsepian, professors at the Super School for those of Superior Knowledge watching one of the countries leading tap dancers, Barb Tim- oney, go through her routine. Bob Field and Bill Bringan, co-authors of the spicy and much talked about book So you want to go to Drury are discussing their royalties. Just then a loud thunder is heard as Joan Lewis rides up on one of her horses which she bred on her farm in Williamstown. Joan looks quite dashing dressed in the latest of riding habits. The spotlight swings to a table where applause greets the famous artist Eileen Burke surrounded by a few admirers and fellow artists,'iLarry Girard, Ronnie Armstrong, Flora Wright and Doris Garner. The famous linguist Bob Green and Assistant Fire Chief Sam Westcott are chatting with cashier Dave Freeman. It seems they've run up quite a bill. The only woman lawyer the class of 1946 boasts, Doris Colt, is discussing her latest case with her former client Arthur Barry. Barbara Rosasco wanders from table to table getting material for her column in the local paper en- titled Who's Who, What they are doing and Why. The editor of this renowned paper, The News of the Day the Dube Way Ceight sheets of pictures and a gossip columnb Edward Dube is watching her intently to see that she earns her over time pay of ten cents an hour. Among the many celebrities here tonight are George Lamoureux, Dave Nassif and GeorgeA. Lesage, world famed scientists, who invented the silent telephone bell, bottomless drinking glasses and a new hair remover that dyes the scalp an ugly shade of green. They are watching the De Pari twins, Catherine and Rita, Drury's answer to the Dolly Sisters. John Ross, Francis Lussier, Howie Waterman and their secretary Doris Brooks have just entered. They own the popular men's clothing store - Tessie System. Far over in a secluded corner we gaze upon some busy members of the Drop-Stitch Knitting Club, who are holding their annual party. Among them are Phil Edwards, Eleanor Donnelly, June Rock and Minna Cuccia. Carl Boschetti, our ambassador to England, and Howard Lenhoff, our ambassador to Russia, are having a violent discussion on international affairs. Our head waiter Vic Girardi seems to be having a hard time taking the orders from the two famed dietitians, Martha Belouin and Marion Wilkin, as they can't decide between raw carrots or sauerkraut sandwiches. We are startled to see Teresa Zappone, our hat check girl, hand our traveling saleswoman, jean Rondeau, her coat and hat, for she is the first to bring to a close this hilarious and unforgettable evening. One after another leave, until the crowd has finally dwindled to nothing and the ballroom is left empty. Then enters one lonely man with dust pan, brooms and mops. He looks at the half-empty glasses and cigarette butts and shakes his head in disgust. Few people know that this is our own Fred Nassif. At length he picks up a half-empty glass of milk and gives a toast to the Class of 46 . Eunice Beaudin Margaret Carey Norma Prince Prophecy On The Prophets PLACE-Huba Huba Night Club TIME-Future In a secluded corner of the Huba Huba Night Club, through a haze of smoke, we are watching the socialites of North Adams as they dash from table to table, and it certainly is a mad crowd. Say, Mary, will you look at Eunice Beaudin? I hear she is selling scivies at the Ship's Store on the U. S. S. Fall River. Could that be where she got all those sailors? What's all the commotion? Oh! I see. It's Peg Carey, the veterinarian, leading ten dogs on a leash, with a cat perched on each shoulder. Miss Carey is dressed in dungarees and a plaid flannel shirt, the latest thing in formal dress. There goes Norma Prince, sauntering over to Bea Beaudin's table. She is all decked out in a black strapless evening gown which she designed herself, still drumming up trade for the new We Design Them, You Wear Them Dress Shoppe. There goes the curfew and I guess that's our cue to leave - So Long Everyone Ann Perkins Mary O'Brien Class Will We, the Class of 1946, being in possession of our faculties, and about to venture into the great beyond, the world of strife for which we have been prepared, do hereby declare this to be our last will and testament, and do by this document bequeath the following: To Mr. Patterson-cushions on the benches in front of the auditorium, so as to make them more com- fortable.
