A special class has been formtd for the benefit of the , non-swimmets by Mr. St.,Pierre, the swimming inltructor, The last hour is spent by the swimmers in a water festival of their own. , ' ' . . FAIR PLAY Being the champion of champions in fair play, the world expects us to live up to the exalted title at all times. If we discard our f.ne principle of sportsmanship when our fine men hang up rifles, then we no longer deserve the honors we have so gloriously won. ,Our students are a true exemplification of the young manhood of the country, and part of the burden of upholding the titles 'on by the United States at the llympic Games rests squarely upon .heir shoulders. . ' ' How can students of Drury assume this respOnsibility?l By playing the game at all times and never for one second losing sight of the ideals of good sportsmanship, at all sport meetings, baseball,. football and in the class rooms, officials are appointed to make T certain that each contestant stays within the rules at all times, The spectatorsf-especially our American audiences, are the first to decry an unearned advantage, or to protestl against foul tactics, By carrying these sentiments into our every day life we perpetuate the ideals of our nation and add to our national prowess. Perhaps it has never been thought of in this manner, but when Q student takes an unfair advantage he ia figuratively speaking, strik- ing a foul blow, below the belt, When he fails to put forth his best iforts in class he is calling a iaul ball Hfair.H When he growls because he warms the bench he is llitting after the bell has rung.F When a team fails it is the players who are to blameg Sometimes we blame the principal when the school standard is low. If, however, every man in this school were willing to bear his share of responsibility and to do just a little more than his share the school would rise immediately to excellent, And now as tn the problem of recognizing constituted authority. In other words it is still-a matter of playing the games with all members ncalling them right,W n 4 4 THE SHOP We have recently started a program of remodeling our shop for the purpose of appearance and for greater efficiency, The first step in our reconversion was to construct individual benches supplied with the tools most commonly used during the course of the day, We have also undertaken the job of painting our machines to further improve the appearance of the shop. Perhaps thp most sizable job that has come up is the construction of a new tool cri .
