S. were filled with the sounds of another beginning school year. As usual, the first event to get underway was the election of officers in the various classes and organizations. As the month of September rolled around, things began to liven up as Girls' basketball practice began. The Trojan teams in- cluded 17 members, two of whom were returning seniors. For 2% weeks, they worked out hard and then Coach Marcia Starks pronounced them ready for their first game with Darby, September 20. Out of the 14 games played during the season, A-squad won 1 and lost 13. B-squad, after playing 11 games, won 2 and lost 9. The season ended in a sudden death game against Victor at District Tournament. The girls grasped at victory, but came 2 points away from it with a final score of 21-23. The boys were not to be outdone by the girls however, and they began sparking up a flame in football. Making up the blue and white football machine were 21 rough and ready guys, plus Coach Jerry O'Reilly, and Assistant Coach Jerry Douglas. The Trojan football statistics were 3 victories and 3 losses. All in all, they had a super season. Also, during the month of September other various activities such as the Freshman Welcome party, the annual party, the Senior Pie Sale, and the Freshman Chile Feed took place to keep everyone busy. The coming of October brought one of the big events of the year--Homecoming! Starting off the festivities was Crazy Daze, followed by the traditional snake dance and bonfire on the 4th.
