We, the Annual Class, would like to thank, at this time, these men. This was the 48th year since the organization of the liigh school. Football season was right upon us. The school spirit was really great. We all knew that we had a winning team. Our Homecoming Game was very exuberant. We lost by only a few points to the Philipsburg Prospectors. Betty Berklund was crowned queen for the Juniors; they also took first place in the float competition; the Seniors ■ u rceed e din putting together a second place float while the Sophomores took third and the Freshmen fourth. The St. Regis game was the best of our season. They never scored and what was so outstanding about our team was that practically every one scored. The FHA had their annual district meeting. This time it was held in Deer Lodge. Phyllis was elected President which was a great honor. She will travel to New York during the summer to attend the national meeting. We were all so proud to hear her name announced. The traditional candy sale was held by the Frosh. This proved very successful for their first project. The Soph- omores pulled a candle sale out of the bag. This was a new and very profitable project. The Seniors had a pen sale, a pie sale, a candy sale, the Senior Swing, and the concession stand. The Juniors had a play. Phyllis Struna was elected Annual Queen December 5. She was crowned at the half-time of the Seely-Swan game. This started basketball season off to a very' good start because we beat Seely. We were defeated twice by our rivals early in the season by only a narrow margin. There was still time left to take revenge. A highlight of the season was when we defeated Alberton by only 1 point. Our team was on its way. Christmas vacation was here and we didn't have to be back to school until January 5 of 1970. A new decade and only one more semester of school left. . v Half the school year has passed and we found ourselves looking forward to all the activities of Spring and one of the most important steps in the lives of our Seniors-graduation. Our mighty Trojans proved to be the great team that they are by taking us to District Tournament in Missoula. We were proud to know that we had one of the largest pep clubs and the best bands to represent the Trojans. Through all the tears and cries of victory, we accepted third place that we had so hard fought for. With our heads held high and a new spirit of fight, we went to Divisional Tournament in Deer Lodge for the first time in five years. Although we didn't place in this tournament, we have the satisfaction of knowing that we went, fought, and represented our school in a good way. The Drill Team, organized under Mrs. Svee, made a fine impression at tournament when they represented DHS with their drills and fancy steps. To thank our boys for the long, hard hours of practice, we were there behind them, cheering them on; and to thank our coach, Mr. Christman, the Senior girls made him a blue dress jacket with DHS embroidered on the pocket. FHA had the annual Sadie Hawkins Dance. Everyone who attended the dance voted on their choice of Daisy Mae and Lil Abner. Mary Thompson and Mike Smith were crowned with these honors. Phyllis, our chapter and district president of FHA, was installed as the Chairman of Projects at the State Con- vention held in Bozeman. The FHA girls who had earned the honors to go to the convention were Luanne Hill, Kathy Tubbs, and Pam Nelson. Mrs. Wilson went along as chaperone. With Spring comes the music festival. The ratings this year were very high; the groups with an excellent rating were the band and the Brass Sextet. The Chorus was honored with a superior rating. DHS was proud to have Dianne Wickham, Kris Arrington, and Ken Lacey to go solo. Dianne and Ken sang voice solos and Kris played a trumpet solo. Dianne received an excellent rating, Kris a superior and Ken a superior. The local concert in the spring went over very well. Mr. Kenney, our band director, proved how much he had helped improve our band and chorus. Kris, Charlene, and JoAnne were honored with the privilege of going to High School Week in Bozeman. Track was going well and we were honored to have so many interested in the athletic program. The Prom was the big formal event of the year. Each year the Juniors select from the Senior class a King and a Queen to reign at the dance. The Romeo and Juliet this year were Joe Coughlin and Kathy Tubbs. The big moment for the Class of 1970 had finally arrived. For twelve years they have waited for this event. Graduation marks the beginning of what ever each one makes of it. So make the best of it. Take advantage of what life has to offer, and make the best of your talents. Remember what DHS, all the friends, teachers and knowledge you have accumulated here have done for you. Memories are made from this. CLASSES FRESHMAN Gayla Anderson Mike Bradshaw Patti Brown L. to R. Tom Fithian, President; Cathy Coughlin, Vice-Presi- dent; Mr. Kenny, Advisor; Linda Smith, Secretary.
