SENIOR HISTORY In the fall of 1961, Drummond High School took notice as the Class of 1965 entered. The freshmen, twenty-six strong, soon mastered the ways of high school. With their sponsor, Mr. Nelson, and the class leaders, Susan Gunderson-President, Charles Johnson-Vice President, and Judy James-Secretary; the freshmen faced their initiation. Their school spirit was proved by the wonderful job they did of painting the D . Another triumph for the class was the election of their candidate, Gail Spunich, as the Drummonda queen. As confident sophomores, the Class of '65, elected Ken Jarvi-President, Bill Brazill-Vice President, and Judy James-Secretary. With the knowing guidance of Mr. Westcott, class sponsor, the class held the last initiation in DHS. The class again had a Drummonda queen; Judy James was elected. The sophomores, through careful planning, saw that the D was properly painted by the freshmen in the spring. The spirited juniors elected Dick Komberec-President, Ken Jarvi-Vice President, and Judy James- Secretary. John Podzer was elected as the class sponsor. They spent a busy year planning for their junior prom. Queen Bev Oly and King Gordon Spunich were crowned in the setting of Roman Holiday”, the prom theme. The class was represented at Girl's State by Jill Beck and Judy James. Boy's State delegate was Ken Jarvi. The class started their senior year by electing John Podzer-Sponsor, Cy Corlett-President, Jill Beck-Vice President, and Judy James-Secretary. Bewitched was the theme of the annual senior ball. The very rich class traveled to Spokane in the spring for a well-earned vacation. The Class of 1965 leaves DHS with many fond memories.
