In their first game Druid Hills celebrated the opening of their first football field with a 35-O victory over Fairburn High. This game re- vealed many promising stars, who later in the season showed themselves to be of great value to the team. On the next weelc-end, Druid Hills met Mon- roe in Monroe. ln this game the team proved themselves capable of meeting almost any emergency The game was featured by the most spectacular passing attaclc that a Druid Hills team has ever put on With but three mnutes left to play th score as I36 favor of Monroe Then came the series of passes from Peclc Succeeding in five con secutive attempts they carried the bal' to he three yard line from which point Hollings worth spun over center for the score Druio Hills behind by one point Again a pass was ca ed this time from Peclc to Gilmore l was completed and the score was tied I3 I3 just as the game ended The Druid Hillians returned home to lose 27 O to Spalding High The game was played in pouring rain and the field was six inches under water The tilt was featured by two lon runs by Spalding men In this game John Gifford sustained a brolcen nose which lcept him out of several games and han i capped him in others The following Friday the Druid Hills squad met R E Lee The team did not play so well as they had played in their previous games Druid Hills scored first but before the half was over the score was tied 7 7 ln the last It R E Lee did even better and they scored two more touchdowns the game ending I9 7 Drui Hills did not improve the next week instead they continued their streak of il luc 43 113 X - I ,ls I ' I in bl FOOTBALL losing to Fulton.
