THE TREMENDOUS CHORE OF PUTTING TOGETHER A SQUAD OF FALCONS WAS LEFT TO NEW HEAD COACH DON WIGGS. WITH AN EARLY START AND A RUGGED, BRUISING SCHEDULE OF PRACTICE SES- SIONS, THE TEAM WALKED ONTO THE FIELD IN AN ORDERLY FASHION. ONE OF THE FINEST THINGS THE TEAM HAD TO BOAST WAS ITS OUTSTANDING STUDENT SUPPORT. WITH AN AVER- AGE FOLLOWING OF 200 STUDENTS, THESE YOUNG MEN PLAYED AT A GREAT PACE TO KEEP UP WITH EXPECTATIONS. 72 GRIDIRON SQUAL 73 GREG RAISOR Halfback DARIO AVELLO End UN 10] STEVE SUMWALT Fullback BERNE MARK HOLLINGSWORTH ft Guard 85 FRANK HURST End HAGER: JOEL ROBERTS End GARY BENSON End MELVIN COX Halfback CAMBRIDGE CITY MIKE FLANAGAN Guard JIM NANCE Halfback TOWN CATHY SKINNER KATHY SUTTER SASHA FIDLER SYLVIA SOMMER VARSITY CHEERLEADERS CHERYL WATSON VARSITY BASKETBALL SECTIONAL CHAMPS Coach PHIL HODSON 'OPPONENTS THEY' HIGHLAND MARKEL VILLE MONROE CENTRAL UNION CITY UNION ROYERTON HARTFORD CITY HAGERSTOWN .LIBERTY MISSISSINEWA YORKTOWN CENTERVILLE CAMBRIDGE CITY BERNE .PORTLAND GENEVA 78 Hoosier Hysteria came back to Indiana with a rollicking success for the fast-flying Falcons from Driver. After two years of concentrating power around this year’s upper- classmen, the former Delaware county leader has created a winner. Small, but mighty Phil Hodson currently piloting the Driver quintet, doesn't worry when he is forced to look to- ward the bench. For, when this time arrives, his Falcon five be- comes the triumphant thirteen from Winchester. Hodson turned them loose against the Bears of Monroe Central. Our Golden Falcons shattered all previous school and fieldhouse records while breaking the century mark. The topping for this coaches' dream was in gaining the coveted Horseshoe. The fully packed stands of Falcon boosters seemed to re- flect the strength and unity of a 1963-64 Top Team.
