The year 1959-1960 has been extraordinary for Driver High School. A spe- cial first-time quality has given excitement to every activity, and made each new” occasion memorable. Beck From the Superintendent's Desk: It is my privilege and very great pleasure to extend greetings to the students of Driver High School. Since you are the first student body of this high school it has been a fine ex- perience watching you develop a school spirit and a school loyalty. Itisthehopeof the school administration that the community may work together for the betterment of the total educa- tional program with the same enthusiasm and determination that you have shown in your work this year. It is also hoped that in the years to come those students who have the privilege of attending Driver High School will be able to look back on their achievements and be as proud of them as we have been of yours. Sincerely, Merritt H. Beck Superintendent M FROM ROBERT G. JONES PRINCIPAL OF DRIVER HIGH SCHOOL TO THE CLASS OF I960.. And to all the students of Driver High School, I am particularly pleased to have this special opportunity to extend to each of you my very sincere congratulations. Congratulations for what----for the wonderful manner in which you accepted a rather strange and new condition at the beginning of the school term and have turned the year into one of cooperation and sincere understanding. The mutual respect displayed toward one another and toward all of us who have made up your faculty has surely been an inspiration to all concerned. You accepted the challenge of a new school brought about by a widely discussed con- solidation and in so doing you have evidenced those characteristics that exemplify the high- est qualifications of citizenship. To those of you who will be graduating--we regret to see you go but such must be. We wishforyouto be an outstanding citizen of your community, a leader in your field of work, and continued intellectual, moral, and spiritual growth. We wish you well. Robert G. The boys worked together in practice and the drills went smoothly. It was difficult to select a starting nine for the first game with Albany. The competition was terrific. The Albany game was tight and hard fought but when the dust cleared at the end of the seventh inning, Driver High School had won its first athletic contest by the score of 2 to 1. Later in the month, Parker came to the Golden Falcon field and handed Driver its first defeat, 3 to 2.
