.Qi rig RAL RESOLVED that the Trustees of Drexel Insti- tute of Technology record their sense of the Institute's great loss through the death on Ianu- ary 30th, 1951, of A. E. Blackstone, Professor of Economics and Dean of the College of Business Administration. Dean Blackstone's good judgment in the se- lection of teachers for the College of Business Administration and in the selection and ad- vancement of students, his care in establishing, appraising, and coordinating the courses of in- struction in both undergraduate and postgrad- uate departments, and his unfailing insistence upon honest standards of performance, gained for him as an administrative officer the respect and willing attention of his associates. All parts of the Institute's plan of education were familiar to him. He had taught in the faculties of both the day and the evening de- partments. Under his direction were the courses in economics, and certain other courses offered to students of all college departments. The un- dertakings of the faculty which he led were linked closely and daily to those of the faculties of Engineering and Home Economics. So his influence was felt and will be missed in all the work done by Drexel Institute of Technology. Remembering now many years of pleasant and rewarding associations with Dean Black- stone, the Trustees direct that a copy of this -minute be sent to his wife and son with their condolences and good wishes.
