These have been full and hard years. Now that Graduation approaches, we are aware that you-having entered to learn-are about ready to go forth-to serve. The formal part of your education, except for the interneship, is almost completed, and you have experienced the great satisfaction of acquiring knowledge, and further, have realized the full fruition of your professional training will be accomplished only by the continuation of being a student for the remainder of your professional lives. It will be more fun being a student when there is no formality of medical school. The realization of a well-balanced uniform medical education is particularly remarkable when one considers the blending and molding that is necessary in the development of so many young people from a great variety of premedical environments. In your class of 84 mem- bers, fifty-nine, or approximately 70 per cent, are Pennsylvanians: sixty-three members, or 75 per cent, have had their premedical training in twenty different colleges or universities in Pennsylvania, twenty- ive members, or approximately 30 per cent, are citizens of States other than Pennsylvania, twenty-one members, or 25 per cent, have received their premedical education in fourteen colleges or universities outside Pennsylvania. The average age is about twenty-seven years. As of this writing, ifty-one members, or 60 per cent, are married, and have forty-two children. This is a cross-section of young life today, and Hahnemann is proud of the accomplishments of her new crop of alumni this year, and considers it a cherished privilege to have con- tributed so much to the progress of American Medicine. To each and every member of The Class of 1953 I wish to extend heartiest congratulations, and every good wish for a happy, healthful and prosperous future. AML! .iran
