He frequently substi- tutes the golf club for the scalpel and is almost a permanent fixture on the greens of the Phila- delphia Country Club. His engaging personality enabled the student to think of him as One of the boys. Firmly believing that the wise man learns from the experiences of others, he vividly recollected his many trials and tribula- tions. Socially minded on numerous occasions he has been an ambassador of good will for Hahnemann. Ever willing to aid the neophyte, Dr. Martin truly embodies the highest meaning of the term physician. Surgery, the craft of medicine, is a tower of strength and a bulwark of solidity at Hahnemann. Eager to impart their experiences and knowledge to the students, the surgical department inspired many embryonic Halsteads and Kellys. With mingled expression of awe and amazement, seated in the dimly lit balcony, we watched the deftness and listened to the staccato orders of the staff surgeons. Drs. Martin, Dickinson and Geary cleared the way through the maze of technicalities and methods to lighten the task of the bedraggled student.
