JOHN C. SCOTT A.B., Ph.D. Mild manncred, soft spoken, Dr. Scott, opened the door of Physio- logy to us. In a planned deliberate manner we were shown how thc laboratory can be brought to the clinic. I don't care a damn what the book says. -Dr. McClenrlon. GGY It was eight A.M. and a low pitched voice said. Physi- ology is the-. Standing on the platform was the owner of this voice, Dr, Scott. XVith his excellently prepared lecture notes be- fore us, Dr. Scott carefully chartered our course in physiology The department was the spirit of efficiency and demanded the best from the students. From frogs to cats and then to dogs, we at last felt that this was medicine. Many a budding surgeon was created in the lab. Drs. Beck, Barnes, Dresbach and McC1endon were ever present to explain the mysterious results. After get- ting soot on our clothes and yarnishing our hands, many decided to become plumbers. Today, however, we fully realize the im- portance of physiology in understanding disease. XVith sincere humility, we thank Dr. Scott for a job well done. F ozfrtecn

.-.1-, li' X , wr w i s i if sip. .ip p W, x The Departments of Bacteriology, Parasitology and l'rc- ventive Medicine are a closely integrated and compactly func- tioning group. Assisted by an able corps of technicians and modern facilities, maxinmm elhciency is achieved. Applying these specialties to present-day medicine is the chief concern of the instructors. Proper emphasis is placed on the problems of immunity and allergy. -Xn outstanding feature of the course is thc addition of guest lecturers from various institutions. The tremendous strides in chemotherapeutic and antibiotic therapy, have made physicians most aware of the bacteriology laboratory. Original investigation delving into the complex realm of cellular physiology is now in progress in the Hahnemann laboratories. Students are stimulated and inspired by the activity and interest manifested by their teachers. The secret of education lies in respecting the student, said Emerson. It is practiced here. Fifteen .fx AMEDEO BON DI, JR. B.S., M.S., I'h.D. Dr. Amedeo Bondi, -lr., is a well known hactcriologist.
