Sputter, sputter. Uh-oh! Now what can we do? Our trip around the world is scheduled for today. The only possible person that can fix this passenger missile, developed by Professor Oren Frye, is Ervin Deal, who is employed at Cordell's Military Repair Base. In order to get there from our base at Moola-Moola Land, we will have to rent an atomic sputnikmobile from Barry Davis' Used Car Lot. Jerry Fisher, our driver, who is the noted driver of the Sputnik 500, will accompany us to the Repair Base which is located in the Metropolis of Drexel. Robert Branch, a noted heart surgeon, and Ruby Smith, an experienced nurse will also accompany us, as they do all passengers who ride with Jerry. As we go through the Drexel Intersection at the speed of sound, Ruby faints. After finally arriving at the Repair Base, we find Ervin talking to Nancy Rector, a model at the Metropolis Show Room, which is displaying the newest fashions this year. Among them is the Missile Look designed by Mademoiselle Mary Alice Rockett who is also the private designer for Miss Imogene Keller, the Grace Kelly of today. We finally persuade him to come along with us, as we see Dean Clark, the coach of the Drexel Missilites, driving by in his new fire-engine red Sputnikmobile. As we arrive back at the ship, we see that it has been invaded by Larry Baker, a star of the new movie, Grendel Lives Again and co-starring Linda Gail Cooper as his mother. It seems that several people have been kidnapped. Among these are: Patsy Berry, MISS MOON FACE of 1999; Henry Baker, head coach at Duke Univer- sity; Mary Jo Burns, a geologist from the Museum of Natural History; Professor Thomas Mauldin of Mount Rushmore Conservatory; Carl Self and Judy Griffin, noted columnists of the STAR GAZETTE. We will have to call on the SPACE NATIONAL GUARD, headed by Mayor Kenneth Berry, who is very happy to assist us. Included in his company are Sgt. Carson Baker, Pvt. Jerry Bumgarner, and Corporal Edward Smith. As these husky men enter the passenger missile, they discover that Jimmy Beasley, noted director and producer, is giving a screen test to those of whom we thought kidnapped. Ervin finally fixes the missile, and now we can blast off with Hildred Hildebran as our pilot and Jerry Curtis as co-pilot. The first stop on our flight is Paris, France. As we get off, we are greeted by a guide and interpretor. At first he looks a little odd with his goatee and mustache, but after careful examination, we discover that it is Monsieur Ronnie Franklin. He tells us that Barbara Eaker is in Paris and has fulfilled her ambition- of becoming a painter. We all want to see her, so we make sure to go to the Louvre, Paris' famous art museum. We carefully look at each of the paintings, but don't see any with her name on them. Oh, there she is, but why does she have on those jeans and a paint brush in her hand? Oh, we get it now. Wefl, that is one way of becoming a painter. A trip to Paris is never complete without a visit to the better dress shops there. The first one we find is owned by Madame Peggy Cook and Ann Settlemyre. They are presently showing the SQUEEZED LOOK that gives the fashions quite a twist. Their biggest rival shop, owned by Madame Mary Piercy and Gail Rhoney is featuring several big sellers. Among these are such creations as the BEAN-POLE LOOK which is adequately described by the title. From Paris, we go on to Rome, the city of romance. There, at the noted fountain, we see three girls who have been tossing coins for what seems hours. They are Ruth Crojv, Peggy VanHom, and Shirley Swink. At one of the beautiful theatres in Rome, we go to see a drama entitled ROMEO S JULIET. Lovely Barbara Carswell plays the role of Juliet while Jimniy Bradshaw thrills us with his performance of Romeo. Everyone has to laugh, however when, in the most romantic and tender scene, a stagehand David Stamey, comes walking out with a broom in his hand. Poor David, he was so shocked he couldn't even move. From Rome, we go all the way to beautiful Hawaii. There we are greeted by four sun-tanned ladies. Because of their gorgeous tans they are difficult to recognize at first, but finally we figure out who they are. They are Freda Frye, Marie Lingerfelt, Louise Anderson, and Eunice Workman. No one would goto Hawaii without spending several days at the beach. We stayed at an elaborate hotel owned by James Poarch. He invited us to take a cruise on his yacht. We gladly accepted and while we were on the ocean we passed Betty Powell and Tommy Sue Self, wealthy heiresses who spend quite a lot of their time in Hawaii. At last our trip must end. Before leaving, however, we made it a point to visit the Lowdermilk Estate and see, our former classmate, Kay. She was having a party in honor of Kenneth Lancaster, the newly elected Senator from Hawaii to the U.S., at the time of our arrival. Harold Williams, Governor of North Carolina, was also present at the festival. Kay Ross, Peggy Pearson, Pat Abee, Gloria Dale, and Rebecca Grigg, all wives of prom- inent embassadors, were in charge of the reception. Finally, we arrived home safely. Our trip around the world had been very tiring, but we had enjoyed a marvelous time.
