Diane Rfffdl I Gallagher, Gif George Eclsrr fob Killer mi I :ffl PUBLI CA TI ON S BOARD The Publications Board this year became a supervisory sub-committee of ECAC in charge of allocating funds to the four organizations on the board: The Acorn, Columns, the Oak Leaves, and WERD. The members of the board are the editors, business managers, and advisors of these four organizations. Mr. John Bevan served as chairman of the board and Sue Mandel as secretary. The board voted this year to approve business managers of organizations as well as editors. Throughout the year it also ' discussed any problems which arose within the framework of any of its members. COLUMNS Formerly an annual literary magazine, Columns this year became a periodical publication. The first issue of Columns appeared in January, the other in the spring. Publishing quite a few examples of student and faculty art work, as well as various forms of strictly literary endeavor, Columns encourages contributions from the university as a whole. WE RD Contrary to popular opinion, there has been a WERD for several years - two in fact. Due to technical dilhcul- ties beyond the control of the WERD board and stall, the station got off to a rather unheralded land in several dormitories unheardj start, but as early in the year as February, technical expert, Joe Clayton, had put the sta- tion into listenable order. With the advent of real trans- mission and the diligent exertions of Dave Leslie 81 Com- pany, WERD looks forward to the first real opportunity to demonstrate its intrinsic worth Q or lack of samej. This fall ten student members and two faculty advisors were inducted into the fraternity. These in- cluded: Judy Ahlstrom, Genie Carter, George Eckstein, George Enslee, Roberta Gallagher, Valerie Greenspan, Ward Landrigan, Dianne Murphy, Joan Potter- ton, Charles Semel, and Dr. Joy B. Phil-I lips and Mr. John Bevan. Pi Delta Epsi- lon seeks to provide programs of interest to student journalists and to uphold high standards in college publications. This year Adam Kaufman served as presi- dent, Phyllis Bailey as secretary, and Mrs. Jacqueline Berke as advisor.
