CLASS PROPHECY We, ' .Vanda ' .Vitt and Kate Galllmore, toured the United States twenty years after our graduation to see If we could find all of our former classmates. We are very happy to report that we either saw or heard of all those who graduated with us In 1948. I, Wanda Witt, badly needing a rest after nursing In St. Mary ' s Hospital for fifteen years without a vacation, and I, Kate Galllmore, also deserving a rest from the dally routine of rearing three children enjdyed the tour. First we stopped In Charleston, W. Va. to see Mrs. Tbmmy West, the former Betty Hubbard of Draper. ' When we arrived she was visiting her husband, who was recovering from a serious Injury caused by a Flying Biscuit . In our travels we came to a large city which we found to be Draper. Only a few blocks down the street we saw the name of an old acquaintance, Peggy Duncan, flashing across a huge neon sign. She had become the famous singer of Jack Brown ' s new night club, The Hot Spot . Visiting some of our friend in Hollywood we ran Into Thelma Stllwell. She had become a famous actress and had just finished her latest picture, A Night in Sylvatus . Weary of a long day of travel, we stopped at a hotel. When we entered the lobby, hom should we meet but our old classmate, hay Covey. Ray look¬ ed very handsome in his black and whit checked suit, a purple shirt, and a large gold watch chain dangling from his robust figure. He told us he was now the governor of The State of Confusion . Starting on a new day we came to a farm lying between the rolling hills of Shiloh. Here we met our former classmate, Davis Miller, who was success¬ fully running a billy goat farm. We found him pu lling his bushy red hair in a fit of rage because one of his goats had eaten a hat he had borrowed from a lady years ago when being initiated into a F. F. A. club. While traveling through Tennessee we rounded a curve and saw a quaint little cottage by the side of the road. Seeing a middle aged spinster rock¬ ing calmly on the front porch, we stopped in hopes of getting some water to fill our thermos bottle. Coming closer, to our surprise, we saw the white haired lady to be Fay Marshall. After talking to Fay awhile we found that her friend Ruby Marshall had been placed in an insane hospital-- suffering from loss of memory caused from blowing bubble gum. ’Ve were happy to learn she had not lost her old friend, Margaret Viers, because she had become matron of the same institution. In search of entertainment, after a long day, we stopped at a carnival in Nashville, Tennessee. The first thing we saw was a clown coming toward us, finding out that it was Hugh Huff we knew that he was up to his old tricks. Ve learned that Georgia Milton was with the same carnival. She had lost her talent as a boxer and had taken a job as fat lady . Driving down a country road in North Carlonia we came to a cute little cottage. Stopping we saw a dozen childrens ' head sticking out of the windows and doors. To our surprise Rachel Snavley answered the door. She had married C. A. Vires after we had finished school. One evening in our hotel we turned on the radio. After a few minutes we heard Jesse Reynolds speaking. He was making speeches for Henry Wallace ' s third term as president. After Jesse left the air we heard another famaliar voice. It was Mary long meowing. She had obtained a job advertising meow meow cat food. Many times we saw.Kozell Hedge during our travels. She is still search¬ ing for Kilroy. Ve stopped to look over a newly erected female college. Charles Jackson still loves the girls. He was very happy as president of the institution. Kay Phillips has become a famous lawyer — specializing In divorces. Our last stop was on Fifthe Avenue in Snowville, Virginia. We found that dugie Tolbert owned the famous Powder Puff dress shoppe. Nadine Shelor, who had always been so closely associated with her in high school, was associated with her in business - she was her model. ft r
