The various clubs were organized and made their objectives for the year. November first the basketball season opened with about thirty five candidates under the direction of Miss Ann Lovern. At an initiative meeting of both girls and boys teams, ' adelin Stilwell and Hoover Quesenberry were elected captaiiis. £:oth teams w orked hard and had a splendid record for the year. At the close of the season the teams held a party in the gyianasium. After beii.g inactive for three years a baseball team was organized, unaer the direction of Mr. J. R. Allison anu Mr. J. A. Haray; Phil Sayers was electee captain. The teams expect to have a commendable recora at the close of the season. The Home Economics club sponsored by Miss Alice Hancock is an organization to better the future homemakers of A.mi.rica. The club objectives for the year were to join the State and National Homemakers club; raise money for the letterment of the club; improve buildings and sponsor some special activities. The F F A ilub sponsored by Mr. J. A. Hardy has mace its objectives, and has them well mider way. Some objectives are to raise ‘2500.; pay for the two tractors is has purchased; plow 200 acres of land; and have a olnt get together w ' ith the Home Economics club each month. The iramaticE club was organized Miss Lovern. The club thus far has was well attended. In order to raise some money for school sponsored a carnival with each class participating. The affair was well attended with a total amount of 84.77 cleared. The Beta Club, a club that has not been active for three years, was newly installed April 15. Twenty members were accepted in the club because of their high grades, their coopeEation and their leadership in high school. The club is expected to accomplish much in the future. At this time plans are being made for the F F A and Home Econoi.;ics clubs annual picnic, the Junior and Senior banquet, class night for the Seniors and graduation class exercises which wdll be held May 31, 1946. under the supervision of had one party which school activities the t Class History The Senior Class of 1946 was first assembled on September 194 v;ith members from various communities including Draper, Draper ' s Valley, Allisonia, riwassee, iiaxcreek, Shiloh, ana £nowvil]e. The class was divided into two separate groups with IJiss Catherine Gannaw ' ay and Mr. Emory halurip our Freshmen home room teachers. Mr. De Mott Robertson was our principal at that time. Our class has been very active in all school and social activities. Various clubs of the school include members from our class. We have presented a number of programs to the satisfaction of the faculty ana the student boay auring the past four years. The members of our class induce Elizabeth Browoi, with her reaay smile; happy-go-lucky Zylman Burnett; Gladys Duncan, star of the basketball team;Peggy cmith,sure to get somewhere soon; and Lois ana Lola V ' indle, the inseparable twins, all from Draper. Draper ' s Valley gives us Murphy Crockett, full of fum; Jack Hubbard the future doctor; Garland, Phil, and John iayers, all promising yong men; and Violet Bnavley, v ith her quiet ways. Marion Covey, with great aiiibition; Martha Covey, slov ly progressing; Marie Duncan, freely expressing her opinion; Mozelle Dishon, a dependable girl; Kathleen Elkins, so quiet; Ruby O ' Dell, sweetly indifferent to worries: Zola Phillips, amusing ana being amused: ' anda Bhelor, the very efficient secretary, and Ruby Shelburn, the typist, are from the section near Snov ville. Class members from Allisonia, Hiwassee, and Maxcreek are Gertrude Carnell, always willing to share a joke:Ruth Covey w ' ith her many moods: Russell Gallimore, president anc class leader: Ruby Graham, reciting w hole pages of poetry: Jaunita Phillips with her charming smile: Hoover Cuesenberr ' , the tall ball player: Mary Quesenberry, the girl v;ith t’ ' ' e planned future: Murril Smith, showing his dimples: Bonnie Southern, quiet and timid; and Madeiin Stilwell so full of fun.
