MosT of Them were very young and desirous of securing a greaT knowledge of which They had heard from Their elders. Fear resided in The hearTs of many, Tear of being salTed, for They were freshmen. AfTer aTTending Draper Tor nearly six monThs a sigh oT boTh relief and disappoinTmenT escaped Them. They were relieved aT noT being salTed and disappoinTed aT noT finding ouT exacTly whaT iT was. One could easily have separaTed This group from The resT of The school for The girls wore shorT dresses. and anklefs. As Tor Their hair, very IiTTIe of iT was acquainTed wiTh The hairdresser or even wiTh a curling iron. The boys were likewise a comical sighT wiTh Their knickers and unmanly hairdresses. The nexT Sepfember saw a remarkable change in These youngsTers. For They were no longer children, buT adulTs wiTh big heads and poinTed noses. The girls used makeup in a ver unbecoming manner and curled Their hair likewise. And The boys! How manly They Teif in Their long panTs! WhaT a sophisTicaTed group These sophomores had become! SepTember l935 saw a serious group of savanTs who were earnesTly discussing The elecfion which broughT Torfh ThaT greaT presidenT, Frank La PoinTe. besides vice- presidenT, John Kelly. and secreTary. DoroThy Gordon. AlThough The Juniors waiTed unTil The following March To hold Their TirsT big money making aTfair. a Jinx Dance, The profiTs proved well worTh waiTing for. ln May came The long awaiTed Junior Prom. The junior year was so successful boTh poliTically and financially ThaT The seniors of '36 declared They were proud To leave The leadership of Draper To such an aspiring group. The sighT seen by SepTember I936 was enTirely diTferenT from ThaT of iTs prede- cessors. This Time iT saw a defermined group of business men and women who sTarTed The year oTT wiTh a bang wiTh a Hallowe'en Dance. WiTh The sTarT of cold weaTher The TradiTional soup sales and cafeTerias sTarTed which Ted The school The greaTer parT of The winfer. ln December The domineering seniors held a very successful Chrisfmas parfy. Following The usual ChrisTmas vacaTion wrinkles appeared in many brows for The January exams promised To be unusually difTiculT. Affer exams which roved quiTe successful The usual carefree aTTiTude again reigned. An elecTion foniowed which sTarTled everyone. Hazel Scheels was elecTed presidenf of The senior class. supporfed by Two oTher girls, Thelma Craig, vice-presidenT. and Dorofhy Gordon. secreTary. This was an innovaTion for Draper To have The girls in power, ConTinuing The annual cusTom of a spring dance The seniors held a Spring Frolic early in April. . The class play, held in December. proved To be The mosf successTul financial underTaking oT The year. IT was Truly one of The greaTesT Tribufes To The class of '37. AT presenT The seniors are fervenfl working on The Senior Ball which will be held in The l'loTel Van Curler. Eileen Sibellis The chairman of The general commiTTee in charge. However The seniors also have a serious inTellecTual side. They are making plans for The graduaTion exercises Wednesday. June 23.
