Bert McGrane Picks Six Most Outstanding Athletes In Drake Relays With the help of some ofthe men on the Des Moines Register and Tribune staff, sports reporter Bert McGrane prepared a list of 35 men who, through the years, were brilliant performers in the Drake Relays and distinguished throughout their careers, Then from that list, and after much evalu- ation, Bert McGrane picked the six athletes on these pages as the most outstanding athletes of the Drake Relay history. These men and others like them, have made the Drake Relays what it is today-one of keen competition and sportsmanship.
