I Music Dozier is well-known across the city for its excellent Music Department. Students interested in music have several areas to choose from: Cho- rus, Band, Orchestra, and Guitar. Judging by the large enrollment in these classes, music is defi- nitely a universal language. 18

Two types of Science are taught at Dozier. Eighth grade physical science is required while earth science taught in the ninth grade is an elec- tive. These courses give you the opportunity to experiment with new equipment and participate in lab activities. All this information prepares you for the construction of your science project. Art classes are definitely not just for talented artists. The only requirements are enthusiasm and initiative. Students use their creativity in many art-related areas, such as painting, draw- ing, and making leather crafts and carvings from soap and wood. The Art Department also pro- vides scenery for plays and other school produc- tions, and ornaments for the Christmas trees in the Dozier Commons and at Newmarket North. Art 19
