Home Economics Glub -HIS is a small club open to anyone in high school who is interested in Home Economics. -IV It is generally made up of those who have taken some Home Economics. Sponsored by Miss Dewees, dietitian and teacher of Home Economies, the clubis objective is to provide continuation of Home Economics study for those who have completed their possi- ble two years. Each year is held a banquet for which the individual members prepare and contribute the food. Table arrangement and decoration are taken care of by the members themselves. Other annual activities besides the banquet are: the tea for the new members, given about the second meeting of the year and including initiations: the moonlight hike, the doggie roastg the roller-skating partyg the Christmas party for the Erst gradeg and the HalloWe'en and Valentine parties. An important event is the usual trip to Drexel Institute of Technology's Open House. Here can be seen the opportunities of the Drexel Home Economics students to use their knowledge, practically, in the cafeterias, tea rooms, nursery and practice houses. So as to be able to discuss the suitability to the weare1 s personality and the practical value of various outfits of clothing, the club holds a fashion show. The members wear their own clothes and conduct the fashion show themselves. This year the twelve members have had to show their own independence and ability for organization, as lNIiss Dewees has hardly been able to attend the meetings at all as the meeting time and places have been inconvenient to her schedule. Therefore, the meetings have been given over to soeiability, by celebrating most of the fete days with home-cooked dishes and novel ideas for masquerade. Next year Miss Dewees hopes to study some phase of home background such as antique furniture. Officers: Jane Kramer, president, Eleanor Jones, vice-presidentg Peggy Smith, see- retary.
