PROPHECY Dear Fnends You must ImagIne that a perIod of twenty years has gone by and It IS now the year T976 Recently I completed a news artI le on the Downsvtlle Central School class of 56 the only class graduatmg that year able to boast that all Its members had a successful lute Here are some of tlce results I came across NORA AKINS Pat put her talent as a sInger to work and after a tour of Europe returned to New Yor to turn the Met Into a IIYSTCIBSS hIllbIlly haven ALOHA VER NOOY Aloha completed her plans to study dIetetIcs and she really put her knowl edge to work wIth eIght kIds and It takes real plannIng to prepare three good meals a day especIalIy on a teacher s salary VIRGINIA DADDEZIO Glnger always had a flaIr for danclng so now she IS teachIng the bop to Arthur Murray JACK DALRYMPL: JackIes abIlIty to eat IS well known He always hoped to be the mIllIonaIre owner of a chaIn of restaurants He got hIs wIsh partIally He now owns a SIX place showplace IH the center of the Bowery JERRY STONE Jerry returned to Kansas CIty after graduatIon It seems he wItnessed some very clever shoplIftIng and IS now the floorwalker In the Clly s buggest department store JEAN CROOP CFOOPIB left school determIned to has three and a half years to do Durlng flrst semester she met the love of her lIfe Her young est graduated last year so CroopIe QUIT work and returned to college KAY BUSH Kays decoratIve and tasty contrtbu tIons to class bake sales brought her fame She IS now the head pastry cook at the WhIte House WARD NEFI- Oggle was never very fond of Na tIonal Guards untIl they started gettIng female Instructors He has spent these twenty years as a prlvate but IS happy NINA GRAY NIna became very FGIIQIOUS mInded after graduatIon and for years she has been a mIssIonary In EthIopIa GLADYS FRIES Gladys engoyed workIng at varI ous summer boardIng homes so much In fact that she recently talked her husband Into open Ing a summer resort on the East Branch of the Delaware COLIN CAMPBELL CoIIn always harbored a sec ret desIre to replace EddIe FIsher He almost made It untII scouts talked hIm Into becommg the VOlCe for FrancIs the talklng mule HERBERT BAULDAUF Herbre used to have trou ble wIth cars that flooded No more though He recently patented a gas guaranteed not to stall flood or guve less than 30 mIles per gallon HAPOLD NEFF NeffIe used to have trouble stIck Ing to one gIrl No more however A recent law made It Illegal to break a heart Nefte had so many charges agaInst hIm that he now has a permanent resldence In SIng SIng MARGARET BOUVV MargIe gave up her plans for a professlonal career and got marned Inst ad Maybe ITS a good thIng for she recently became the mother of quIntuplets 'NIANCY ROSE Nan used t dslIke be ng tall but It proved to have IIS advantages She met a member of the New York KnIckerbockers and IS now the mother and manager of an all star bas ketball team 'RENE TOMPKINS Irene could hardly Wall for graduatuon so that she could get that gold band on her fInger Now she IS waItIng for her sIxth dIvorce so that she can remarry her fIrst husband desIre to spend her Ilfe around alrplanes She made It She now runs a set of sux klddy planes at Coney Island RUTH WILCOX Ruth always planned to be a secretary but 20th Century Fox dtscovered her actIng talent and she IS now starrIng ID a serles of Prlvate Secretary fIlms LONNIE BAXTER I-Ie was always modest about hIs abIlIty to draw untll he got a chance to paInt Marllyn Monroe Hts works are now In hlgh de mand DICK HOOD DIck really enloyed the traIn trIp to Kansas CIty He acqulred such a lIkIng for tralns that he started out as a coal man and worked up to presIdent of the raIlroad company ISABEL LOUCKS IsIe IS now wearIng a whIte umform as a very competent and celebrated nurse for anImals GILBERT MILLS Glbbys hIdden muslcal talent came to lIght and he organuzed hIs own dance band They re now playIng at the Stork Club ThIs was certaInIy an Interestmg artlcle to work on but then I really engoy my work after all Ive been at It twenty years You see when thIs class passed through the door for the last tIme together I couldnt face the Idea of teachmg wIthout them so I gave up teachrng My work on the school paper convrnced me that thIs was the Iob for me I was no supersuccess but ITS a lIvIng Slncerely MR REGIS HAMMOND , - I 'c .
