Some in stripes are intermingled, Others blaze in one bright hue, So we'll wear the white carnation, And in Honors sacred light We'll defend our own bright colors, E'en the Purple and the White. Thro' the happy years of school life, Midst the scenes to us so dear, As the thorny path to knowledge We bravely strive to clear, Or we manifest our prowess, As we scale some other height, While we work for dear Old Downsville, And the Purple and the White. When we've grown to men and women And our locks are turning whiteg When fast shades Life's purple evening, Into its deep darken'd night, Let us lose our melancholy, For with morning's coming light, We'll remember each our school-days 'Neath the Purple and the White.
