Last yesr'e championship club had been hit by gsduatica as three of the starting five had departed 3 however, two 'big guns' returned to form s nucleus to defend their championship. Harold Zinmermsn and Graydom Williams, playing their final year, quickly showed their mettle on the inside and outside attsok. Ray Bull stepped off the varsity bench to grab a forward position while Ted Tompkins, Mel Clap- pertm, Paul Shields, John Neff, and Larry Lord came from last year's chem'- pionship J.V. tesm to vie for a versity position. The boys started fast, grabbing all six games before Christmas vacation. Beat in an overtime in their first encounter after Christmas, the Purple and White clipped off seven more victories before bowing again. The Junior Varsity, made up mostly of sophomores and juniors, lacked experience and had a rough road to follow. heartbreaking were four of their losses by one point. As usual, their lack of finesse was more than compensa- ted by their spirit. 21
