Through these halls pass tomorrow ' s citizens. GYMNASIUM . . . Here the Dragons spend many hours of hard practicing which led to victories. JUNIOR HIGH . . . The students here are the high school students in a few years. GRADE SCHOOL . . . The long road to edu- cation begins here! Boy, Downs has a great faculty! You know they even formed a band for a pep rally to boost the Dragons to victory. They sponsor clubs and activities besides having well-planned classes. ' Up-to-date! ' That ' s DHS. They even have a guidance counselor. Mr. Irvin Myers loved Dragonland so much he came back to his alma mater to be superintendent. SUPERiN TENDEIWrS MR. In addition to his responsibilities as principal, Mr. Roe assists Superintendent Irvin Myers and serves as tem- porary supervisor in Mr. Myers ' absence. SCWOOL DRiVERS I Jim Pottberg, Gary Roe, and Don Walter Now I ' d like to introduce to you my friends, the students of Dragon land. They are the backbone of the school. You know, I love all the students dearly. The only thing that mars my happiness is that the seniors must leave me. But to brighten my world, I just think of all the future students to enter the halls of DHS. Thirteen of the 65 seniors completed their twelfth year of school together in 1965. To guide them tiirough their last year the thirty-six seniors chose Leslie Strait as their pres- ident. Their other officers were Gwynne Arasmith, vice- president; Irva Burmeister, sec- retary; Judy Driggs, treasurer; and Barbara Brown, student council representative. For four years the seniors of 65 have been outstanding scholars and leaders in DHS. Their main projects for their senior year were selling maga- zines, the senior play, and the senior trip. Their four years of hard work were rewarded on May 12 when they left on their senior trip to Colorado. TRrR7V-SP6 CENfOR e C! OUT INTO TRt U ORID ! I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the many kind acts shown me, an American Field Service Student. My stay in your town has been very pleasant. I wish to thank the local APS Chapter for making it possible to come to the United States, and especially Downs, Kansas. I also wish to thank the organizations that helped make my trip possible. I find your school system much different than it is in my country. I have enjoyed the many activities, the Junior-Senior Prom was wonderful. And the Senior sneak is a trip I shall never forget. I want to thank my host parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Steinshouer, who have treated me as their own child, helped me learn the English language, prepared me for school, and did so many extra things to show the culttire of America. These months spent in Downs have been very happy, in fact I had the happiest Christmas, and birthday too. For all the gifts, cards, and remembrances, 1 am very grateful to all. 1 shall surely remember my friends through the friendship quilt that Mom Steinshouer sponsored. Pick-A-Dilly , written by Jay Tobias, was an exciting comedy thriller packed with laughs. It seemed Rod Benedict would in- herit a fortune from his late uncle providing he married one of the three Dilly sisters- - April Violet, May Lilly, or Jime Rose. Now Rod didn ' t want to settle down to married bliss until he was at least thirty, so he disguised himself as an illiterate. From there on riotous situations occur.
