TO THE CLASS OF 1958 The office of Armed Forces Information and Education of the De- partment of Defense has recently published an interesting little bro- chure. Written all over its cover is its title, KEEP ON LEARNING. One of the largest industries in America sponsored a television program in October. It was devoted to some 30 'alumni' of the in- dustry's off-duty training program, started more than a quarter of a century ago for the improvement and advancement of its workers. It was nuly phenomenal to meet on the program ,man after man who had risen through the ranks to executive positions because he had been am- bitious enough to KEEP ON LEARNING. The obvious idea which I am trying to pass on to the Class of '58, is that ahigh school graduate has not really finished anything. In truth, he has just started to learn. lf he hopes to succeed in the world into which he has suddenly been spilled by his high school, he must realize the importance of the advice to KEEP ON LEARNING. Some of the graduates will go to college to take post-high school courses. Others may have the opportunity for the in-training offered by the various branches of the military service and by many of the more progressive industries. ln addition to these formal opportunities for more education, every community has cultural and educational programs for those who want to improve themselves. Whatever may be your ambition in life, and wherever your path may lead, it is my hope that a part of the equipment which you will forever carry with you will be the determination to KEEP ON LEARN- ING. -- J. I. S. Well l'm sad to say we're on our way Won't be back for many a day, our hearts Are down our heads are spinning around We had to leave a little school called Downingtown. The teachers have done their very best And now it's up to us to do the rest, Strive hard in life to reach your goal And remember the good things we've been told. well I'm sad to say we're on our way Won't be back for many a day, our hearts Are down our heads are spinning around We had to leave a little school called Downingtown. -- Curtis Butler George Waters James Pittman Ghss gfnwer 66,53 jgeme Pink Star Eyes Carnation The Australian Jazz Quintet GQSJ 975 0170 We climb though the road may be rugged. GQJJ 7909122 REMEMBRA NCE' We leave you now in love and grace Now the world we have to face We look ahead for something new Where can we go? What can we do? Then we remember our teachers' looks When we refused to study our books They tried so hard to teach us right But we were like strangers in the night, We have tried to conquer the thought in mind To do our best in every line We will remember what we were taught So in the wide world we won't get caught. Our class began on September 6, 1954, sponsored by Col. H, D. Queen. We had eight boys and two girls. Out of the ten we have only two survivors, Lloyd Smith and Wallace Roney. In our tenth grade year, we had nineteen students and in our eleventh grade year we had twenty-four, now in our last year we boast a total of twenty- two students. We haven't accomplished much ln sports, but we have tried to show sportsmanship when we were beat. We had teamwork in planning and putting over successfully our big event, the Junior-Senior Prom. In closing I do hope our efforts will be crowned with success and happiness and that we will be considered as a blessing to the world in which we live. D, I.
