Editor-in-Chief M. John White Associate Editor Tom Radwick Art Editor Renato Pia Print Editor Amy Nixon Photography Ed. Jennifer Norek Activities Ed. Don Morabito Advisor Ms. Campbell Asst. Advisor Mrs. Robinson DHS From the Editor M. Jon White, ed. Our journey began at Split Rock Lodge in August, and ended in March. The long and tedious task of creating a yearbook can never be adequately described. Therefore. I won’t bore you with my attempt. But through the long school days and short deadlines, one person was always there to relieve the burden. Tom Radwick. There is also no way that I can thank him enough, so when you see him thank him for me — and yourself. He truly was a motivating force behind the entire staff. His impromtu sense of humor made impossible situations tolerable, and his dictionary vocabulary saved me hours of paging through 'Webster's.'' Many other people made the 1986 Yearbook possible as well: My parents, who often bore the brunt of my frustration; Mr. Wingard s unending support and understanding; Ms. Campbell and Mrs. Robinson's their knowledge, guidance, support, and just plain friendship; Amy Nixon s relentlessness at the typewriter; Mr. Moll's understanding and support; the faculty's taxability; Jennie Norek. Don Morabito. Jennifer Zeis (you should be insane). Dave Insley. Kim Jackson. Renato Pia. Carlene Dell, and many, many others. When I look back to my senior year, a lot of my time was spent in those two cramped, hot rooms. But when I wasn't in there. I was spending time with my friends in the Senior Class of 1986 (and a few underclassmen). Your support and friendship will always bring back great memories of DHS. And when you see this yearbook. I hope it will bring back great memories. Thanks to everyone who made it great, and Good Luck always! Jon White Tom Radwick My involvement in the yearbook was strange. It was rather hard work spending every day after school in the cramped quarters of the yearbook room, and I often wondered why I was doing it. However, even amid the most torrential hassles and most insane scrambles. I knew that I was working for the student body before myself and that we would both be rewarded eventually. The 1986 Yearbook is that reward and I honestly hope you are pleased with it. The making of this yearbook was no slapdash affair. It is the product of a great deal of thought, calculation and fastidious detail — all under the umbrella of a relatively fresh and imaginative theme (this probably accounts for our missing most of the deadlines). The editorial staff made a conscious effort to represent everyone at DHS. with the obvious emphasis on the senior class. I hope all of you find this to be true and pleasing. I think it's important at the time to thank Jon White for his inexhaustable effort in making this yearbook work. Jon spent an extraordinary amount of time on this yearbook and was always the last one to leave every night. He also battled incomprehensible frustration virtually every day. So. if you like this yearbook, please thank Jon and give him a couple of aspirins. I would also like to thank all of our other courageous editors and loyal staff, all of whom played a vital part in making this yearbook come off as it did. Thank you very much and good luck to everyone of you. In Memory Frederick David White God hath not promised Skies always blue, Flower strewn pathways All our lives through; God hath not promised Sun without rain, Joy without Sorrow, Peace without pain. But God hath promised Strength for the day, Rest for the labor, Light for the way. Grace for the trials, Help from above, Unfailing sympathy Undying love ... For Joe: One day we’ll meet again, my friend, One day we’ll meet again, In a place where time is unheard of, And there is no “now” or “then.’’ We'll share the smiles and memories That you've left with many, And forget about the pains we've felt, For I know there won’t be any. It seems you wanted things this way. There was someone you needed to find, But those of us who cry for you Are crying, for you’ve left us behind. We cannot say good-bye to you Good-bye would mean “the end” — But I know deep in my heart — One day we'll meet again, my friend One day we’ll meet again. Joseph Miles 2 In Memory - Virginia Davis
