Page 49 ‘Cover design by Don Brown The ominous year that George Orwell predicted has arrived yet we, the Seniors of Downingtown High School, will remember this year with far more nostalgia than George Orwell could have ever anticipated. Because this year was such an important time in our lives, the 1983-84 Yearbook Staff invested much time and effort into cresting a yearbook that captured the essence of this school year. I wish to extend my sincere thanks to the editors, teachers, photographers and students who have contributed to Our Year. Producing a book that is as popular as the yearbook is an extremely difficult task, and without the participation of these people it would have been impossible. Production of Our Year began over the summer with theme development, and concluded in April with the final deadline. As is evident throughout the book, we (the Yerabook Staff) chose the balloon as this year’s theme. The balloon not only represents the Seniors who are rising to meet new expectations, but also the underclassmen who are striving to reach their destinations. Frequently characterized by students as soft-spoken, caring, organized and personal, Mr. Morgan was the overwhelming choice of this year’s graduating class of seniors. As can be seen from these photos, Mr. Morgan has many interests and activities. This year Mr. Morgan’s golf team won its first Ches Mont golf championship, an honor of which he should be proud. His rapport with his team members is as obvious as is the pleasure he takes in working with them. It is with pride and happiness that the graduating class of 1984 dedicates its yearbook to Mr. Michael Morgan. 5
