The Class Of 1976 Is Honored To Dedicate Our Year To Mr. John Bycoskie. Each year a teacher is chosen by the senior class as an outstanding individual whom they respect and admire. Not only must this person be dedicated to his students, but also to the subiect that he teaches. We have chosen a man who has these qualities plus more. Presently, he is head of the science department at D.H.S. Over the years he has received numerous awards and has frequently been lauded for his outstanding knowledge in the field of chemistry. Besides being one tremendous chemistry teacher, he has also participated in various extra curricular activities, most notably in the past as varsity wrestling coach and presently as the assistant athletic director. His “trusty” pistol has started many a track meet at D.H.S. Out side of school, he has a lovely wife and family who surely are as dedicated to him as we. Who. but a man with all of these qualities, in addition to a sharp sense of humor and a deep understanding of young adults, deserves to be recognized by his students who hold him in such high esteem. After all. anyone who is considered to be the “Teacher of the Universe by his fellow faculty members must be pretty terrific. Mr. John Bycoskie. for everything you have done for us. as well as for all of those whom your life has touched at Downmgtown during the past twenty years, the Class of 1976 is honored to dedicate this book. Our Year, to you in appreciation and gratitude.
