MR. DISERAFINO, PRINCIPAL As graduates, you will be leaving the familiar routines of your high school environment and will be entering that expansive, demanding, exciting, and what is sometimes referred to as that “cruel world.” Each graduate must think realistically; some dreams may go unfulfilled; some goals may be unattainable; and some promises which were built on hopes may be broken. Situations demanding the application of your many concepts, theories, and ideas have now arrived. I sincerely hope you will successfully implement and apply that which you have learned. You must realize, of course, that you must not become discouraged when confronted with your first taste of failure or defeat. Perhaps the wisdom which you have gained from various people, opportunities, and situations throughout your formative years will assist you in the future. Education has helped you to effectively react to changing situations and to rebound from the specter of adversity that everyone experiences in the adult world. My sincere wish for you is that good fortune will be yours to enjoy, that failures will strengthen your will to succeed, and that success, whatever its degree, will be accepted with humility and an awareness that it was achieved with the help of your parents, your teachers and your friends.
