The most satisfying change I have seen over the years has been the improvement in the courses and activities offered to the students. Today, students have more opportunities for self-advancement than ever before. The members of the Class of ’73, even though they probably wouldn’t admit it, are better prepared for the future than any of their predecessors. Mr. Wentzel, Vice-Principal Teaching is a rewarding experience because we work with the fine young people who will one day lead and determine just what our country and world will be. Teachers have the opportunity of seeing young lives develop into mature lives. And the good teacher not only instructs and, hopefully, inspires his students, but learns from them as well. Mrs. Miller, Social Studies Teacher

SUPERINTENDENT’S 1973 YEARBOOK STATEMENT The paradox suggested by the class theme, “Good Times, Bad Times”, motivates reflection upon the advantages we all enjoy so much in 1973. However, no need exists to merely catalogue our assets, to compare them with those of the less fortunate or to weigh them against the negative. Rather the Class of 1973 and all of us could with much merit consider what is a “good time” or an asset. The essence of “good” in mankind must be humanism with its well-identified values of love, faith, selflessness, virtue, honor, compassion and service to others. In this context it has been said that the only things we really have are those we have given to others. Certainly our “good time”, our asset, our advantage is the opportunity to advance mankind along the road of humanism and it is for our work in this field that we shall be known. CHARLES M.MICKEN Superintendent of Schools 20
