Physical Education ANY LAST WORDS, MISS HELLER? The physical education program is planned to meet the developmental needs of every student. The activities are broad in scope with emphasis placed on the acquisition of worthwhile habits, attitudes, knowledge, and skills. This year the department is concentrating on sports that can be enjoyed after graduation from high school: archery, golf, tennis, volleyball and softball. Health AMI ItH 11 tolls) vn»MH M • HUNTS THE ULNA IS CONNECTED TO THE HUMERUS, Dan Phipps points out to 16 Richard Biondi and Ted Rissel. Great strides are being made today in health. Because students must be kept informed of recent knowledge in this field, health is required for all juniors for three periods each week. The classes stress the improvement of the health of the individual, the health problems of the community, the various health organizations and the responsibility of each individual for the better health of the nation.

Science Our science program is designed to teach the students scientific principles which will best prepare them for college and will also apply to every way of life. Although Chemistry and Physics are electives, Biology is required of all students. Revisions are made periodically which utilize recent discoveries and newer- teaching concepts. The goals of the program are to provide knowledge for everyone, to teach students to think, and to encourage the capable student to enter scientific fields as vocations. GET READY TO RUN! Art In addition to its regular criteria, the Art Department offers courses in art crafts and in fine arts. The art crafts curriculum includes ceramics, wood carving, graphics and a variety of other crafts. The fine arts curriculum includes water coloring, portrait painting, figure drawing and art appreciation. Music FUTURE PICASSOS! Bill Inslee seems lo enjoy Dave Mahoney's work. The Music Department, which consists of both instrumental and choral groups, offers training for those students with musical talents which they wish to develop and also provides an Appreciation of Music course. Both vocal and instrumental areas are elective and give credit toward graduation. The marching band, with majorettes and color guard, performs for football games and in parades. The concert band gives Christmas and spring concerts. The Whippetonians play for special school functions and dances. The choral groups are Mixed Choir, and the Girls' Chorus. Although these groups assist at school and community affairs, their major presentations are a Christmas cantata and a spring concert.
